Why not use the USB option? download the Windows USB download tool http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...-download-tool it should burn it to DVD or put it on a USB or Rufus https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...dows-10-a.html. If you want a DVD and can't do it within 10, copy paste the ISO to your 7 install and burn it from there.

I tried the Win 10 iso file download yesterday. I chose the "both" option (32 & 64 bit). I further chose the iso to DVD option. Win 10 does not have a "burner" (it reports no burner found). Have yet to test a 32bit or 64bit install using this iso.

I did one upgrade from ISO. The system had some burning software on it (PowerDVD/Roxio - I don't remember), but I got the same error when trying to "open DVD burner" from the link in the ISO download window. That is because it's trying to open the native burning function of the OS and the installed 3rd party software have taken over/disabled it, and it can't open the 3rd party software. So, open your 3rd-party burning software yourself and burn the ISO using that.

EDIT: This, of course, assumes you have a DVD burner in the system...

Don't mean to over simplify it, but Steve is right. Go get the Media Download. Save it, burn it, USB it, update it..... it is not that hard.... don't try to shift from 1st to 4th without a clutch.... slow down....

You can select to create a USB install media directly using the new MS Media Creation Tool. If you want to use USB, there's no need to first create an ISO and then create the USB by yourself.

Creating a 32 or 64 bit USB, you need a 3 GB or bigger flash drive, creating one with both bit versions you need a 6 GB or bigger drive.

Self created problem. Since I downloaded both, that equals to 5.6GB (way over capacity for DVD). Can use Flash, but must be a blank flash or it will over write previous data. For the moment, stored it on my data drive. Will put it back on flash when and if I need it. Another oddity? the Windows.iso when the downloaded completed, mounted itself and it was titled D: ESDtoISO. Tx..

Check again . It's not ESDtoISO, it's ESD-ISO. That's the name the tool gives to the ISO, shown when mounted or burned to disk or flash drive.

Is there still a way to activate a fresh installation of 10240, so I reconvene trying out Insider Builds?

Yes. So would you think that the tool to offer an option of "Both" would still have the further option of a DVD. It should be greyed out??
