I am sure you know how to do this. I think you need to do install any updates listed on 7/29/15. Then opt out of receiving insider build, let it boot up. Check for more updates. Then check your version number. Then see if it is permanently activated.
Just did that, its still activated, didn't get and new updates after opting out. Haven't checked version number of if key changed yet. Have to boot it back up and have a look see.

It does show (I guess what is called the delta number) .16393

Isn't .16393 the version released to the public today?

I don't know? I haven't been able to actually upgrade any of my PC's. They are all either stuck at validating, or almost ready. They've been that way for hours now.

I originally upgraded from Windows 7 to build 10074. Then each build after that too 10240. If your install was an upgrade from a genuine Windows 7 sp1 or 8.1 install I "should" be able to exit out of the insiders program and switch to the consumer release without reinstalling anything. I was expecting some kind of announcement saying now is the time to do it etc? Or a notification in the insiders preview, maybe in the action center etc. Haven't seen anything. I've opted out anyway, still shows activated. Haven't checked to see if my key changed yet though, its on my to do list though. Everything else seems to have come to a grinding halt on my other PC's upgrading via the GWX App.
My installs have been strictly TP since the beginning, on this disk anyway and that's how it's going to stay for as long as insider ring exists. My other installation on another disk have 8.1 and that's the one that is not upgrading to 10 yet. At first I thought that it's because of location or because W7 has priority but many here have successfully upgraded both so now I don't know what's keeping my to do same.

So are we suppose to actually do anything today other than opt out on build 240? The insiders page has a media creation kit now but no product keys. I am a little confused about the process for an insider to get their copy converted to legit?

I don't think that pure insider edition can be successfully converted to free commercial edition and to remain licensed and not expire eventually. Only options are to upgrade from W7 or 8.1 or buy it outright. Staying as insider is only other option.
