For the problem with latest Nvidia drivers, looks like NvCplSetupInt.exe (v 353.62) is/was corrupted in installation file, friend of mine replaced it from the CAB from another version and it installed and run properly. Apparently this version MEGA worked fine.

What a pain, eh? MS need to re-think their attitude about mandatory WUs for consumers. After all the botched WUs last year, and your display fiascos...
I have read that MS has heard your complaints. In the works a tool that allows you to remove and hide updates. They must be installed first.

The tool can be downloaded here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

See: How to Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10

No, not installed, but available from Windows Update. Hide the updates, and they will not be downloaded and installed.

If updates are installed, and you need to remove and Uninstall them, go to settings, update and security, Windows update, advanced options, view your update history, uninstall updates ( which takes you to the other place where updates can be uninstalled:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Installed Updates, Uninstall an update)

    Hi everybody

There used to be a facility /application on W8 / W8.1 or even earlier where you could DOWNLOAD updates to a directory and then you could apply them later in batch to a whole slew of machines.

Does this application exist any more -- any links and instructions on how to use it.

Seems to me pointless and a waste of resources to have to download the SAME updates to apply to a number of running Machines.

(@ conspiracy theorists -- Ms is busy buying shares in ISP's so that it can earn money on your downloads. !!).

    Cheers

This is where the P2P update feature comes in. By default, Windows will automatically get updates from other systems on your network that already have them downloaded.

Of course you've posted several times that you thought Microsoft should implement P2P functionality in Windows, and all of those time's I've told you that they already have... so I don't seem to understand why you keep saying this....

In Windows 10 you can do this,

Windows 10 Build 10240 for PC is now available-updates-capture.png

You should then only have to download it once and upgrade all your PC's from the one download. Very close to how bit torrent works from the looks of it. Won't help you with Windows 8 but everybody will be on windows 10 in another week or so anyway.

It's there in Windows 10, haven't seen the same settings in Windows 8.1 though? I'm not sure which OS Jimbo is referring to.

Is there any tool available now that we can see while it's working in the process?

Of course, if he doesn't have W10 yet on all his systems, that doesn't help him, does it?!
