Just today, I did a clean install to a new 3TB disk drive with a Windows 10 Pro ver 10240 DVD I created from an .esd file. It was a clean install from ver 10240 to ver 10240. My windows is activated. So I also confirm that you can still do a clean install on a PC that previously had Windows 10 activated on it.

I bought this refurbished Dell Optiplex 790 DT a couple of weeks ago from Dell Financial Services. The pc came with a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, which I immediately upgraded to Windows 10 Pro ver 10162 - 64-bit.
Good to know. I want to buy a new SSD for my drive that has 10240 on it but was waiting until the final issue of Windows 10 is out.

Okay, thank you and I'm looking forward to your solution-suggestion, but I would like to say something (to anyone who is reading this forum seriously and objectively) :

    - It is very disappointing that just a few days before the official release so many bugs exist. Honestly!

Personally, I do have lots of free time this period (this summer) so I do not mind all these bugs so much. But can you imagine a person who is working, who has a family and other important business to take care of, can you picture this man or woman upgrading to Windows 10 on the 29th or a couple of days later, and face all these issues?!

All of the sudden, now I have artifacts!
Each time my desktop's background image is changing, and I have it changing every one minute, I get a line or some squares on the screen, like the image is broken! What the f... is this?! Latest drivers, via Win update. Yes, yes, yes, I have downloaded them again, the .cab file provided in this very forum, yes I have clean-installed them 3 (three) times!! Artifacts! Jesus.........................

    Anyway.

I hope it will get better. SOON! There's no time, you see! Unless we just make fun of each other here.... You, me, Microsoft, everybody making fun of each other! Hahaha...
I know how you must feel, Joanne. I get strange quirks on my system but feel like some of the forum members shun you if you mention you have problems. I have reported my problems to the insider and am hoping these last two patches correct some issues for all of us who do have genuine problems. As you mentioned, if I were working I would be out of my mind.

It's difficult to know what exactly is wrong on someone's else system, how much it was modified etc.

Joanne, I am sorry that you are having issues, I am not having any issues. I read your entire post (posts) very thoroughly and none of those issues beset my system. All of my live tiles function as they should and I have no screen blurriness or anything else that you mention. Of course my situation is way different than yours or many other people's situations around these parts. I only have one computer in the house, it is the desktop that I am on. I have no laptops or any other computers. Windows 10 is the sole OS I am using, I am not dual booting or running a virtual machine. I have ALL of my programs loaded into Windows 10 as I am constantly doing my hobby stuff with audio and video projects. I have run into ZERO ISSUES. To me this OS just works. It sits n the background and lets me do what I want. It s everything that an OS should be, clean, fast, efficient and bug free. That is my experience.

Did you start new threads with the issues you're having for others to help you out??

+1.. We need to know what has been modified in the registry etc. With out the knowledge it's hard to really help out.

You know, Build 10240 might actually be the 'release version', but that doesn't mean that the build 10240 we Insiders got is not somehow internally flagged as an Insider build, with all the caveats that implies. I think people are making assumptions beyond their actual knowledge of how the system works now...
That's my thinking too. One scenario is on the 29th they send out a patch to make it the true consumer version. One that totally separates it from insider builds if you opt out. If would sure speed things up if we already have it, but it just hasn't been fully enabled yet. One small patch to download instead of a whole new build would really speed things up and reduce the downloads from the servers. Then the download servers could work on those with the GWX App in the background. One thing is for sure, its going to get really interesting on or about the 29th.

My sneaking suspicion is they are actually already seeding the final build to people now and will send a final small "unlock" code starting the 29th. If they want to get it in as many hands as possible starting the 29th then they'll probably follow Steam, Origin, GOG and other distributors technique of pre-installing. That way they can do a small file on release day and be done.
lol, I guess I should have read one more post, as that's pretty well what I just posted a second ago. I just got up and haven't even finished my coffee yet. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Every day I boot up my 8.1 to just let it get happy. Recently, there has been a lot of "activity". No WU updates, per se, but lots of net i/o. Lots of churning around. They are seeding, or I'll call it "trickle-charging". MS is taking steps to avoid server burnout next week! I can't wait!!!!

Me too, but other than regular defender and occasional security update, no other downloads. With DuMeter I can check exactly how much was downloaded and apart from those I couldn't see anything "extra".
