Yes, I had already installed build 10166 on it, but this time I did a clean install from a burned DVD

I did a clean install, used the key so it activated and then upgraded to 10240 and it was activated when done. I used an ISO for the upgrade process.
i thought gabe said all keys to older builds were dead, and that they wouldn't work any longer?

Looked and tried all the standard Apps and could not find anything that doesn't work. Only problem I have is that some names are in English and some in Serbian with atrocious translations. As they are all in alphabetical order in All Apps, it's difficult to find them fast. Ones I want, I stuck to Start menu, speaking of which, I cant make it wider and can have only 3 of medium size in a row.
if you consider the smallest start menu 25%, then i can expand mine to, 50, 75 and then 100%. so there are four expansion steps. you should be able to get it further than three icons wide .

It's odd... Some people are still being able to activate builds with embedded keys, others not... I could activate a clean install of build 10240 a few hours ago.

Could this relate to history of Insider MSA?

that is odd. through out this process, so many times different people can do different things. what works for some, just doesn't work for others. some easily upgrade others have multiple problems. i find this very distracting, and it makes you a little paranoid every time you go to upgrade or do something relevant on your system.

Just clean installed build 10240 using local account & key for pro in 1st post during setup and haven't yet switched to an MSA account and decided to check Activation status without using an MSA account, surprisingly windows is Activated.

As mentioned earlier I will need my MSA account to receive new builds.
