    So, I wouldn't call myself an "expert" per se, but with Build 10240 being RTM most likely, do you think it'd be wise for me to download the Insider Preview on my primary laptop?

    Can the Insider Preview still be downloaded for new users?

    You wouldn't know how I can go back ..
    To get the free upgrade you have to upgrade from a genuine Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 install to the preview or the final release. If you clean install the preview you won't be fully licensed when you upgrade to the finale release. Activation will time out.

    Any Brits having much success. The fibers across the pond must be maxed out.
    getting only 500kB/sec instead of 10MB/sec.
    add - 10 mins later now reached 2MB/sec at least I won't have to stay up to 2a.m.

    All done here long ago, it took a while to hit but was fast enough once it did.
