this is what i consider my saving grace. the OEM key and edition say it all:

for those who ARE NOT familiar with show key plus, you can download it from here:
    Showkey - Windows 10 Forums
If I run showkey on my upgrade install, it will show the original Windows 7 key. run it on a clean install and it won't. It will still say marker found but won't list a key or original version installed.

If I were you I'd edit out your OEM key, maybe even the original key shown.

I will try leaving the insider program on the 29th or 30th unless something comes up that delays me, like storms.
I will too when I upgrade all my devices. I may go back on one PC after that though, haven't decided yet.

I thought that the entire point of 'reserving' a copy on a 7 or 8.1 system was that your machine would download the RTM, perhaps slowly and in increments, before the 29th, thereby avoiding a big crush. Then, on the 29th, you'd be notified that you could go ahead and upgrade at your convenience. Is that not the plan any more?
i don't think that is how it will go, as they've said it could take months after the 29th launch to actually get it for most. so i think we are the lucky ones, who are in the insiders program, but the others will be waiting for a long while.

I'm thinking days, not months. A week at the most. Just my guess.

Nobody should be able to use the OEM key, but I wouldn't want it to be blacklisted because some tried anyway. Same for any other keys listed.

I am taking an advice from you guys here and using Packard bell recovery tool to restore Windows 7 to factory reset. I am going to miss Windows 10 . Once Original windows 7 is installed I will then update to Windows 10 insider build. Show key tool will show me Product code right which was used in Windows 10 after that right?

so you did NOT upgrade to win 10 from win 7? because if you did, then there is no reason to reverse anything.

that is exactly why i dual boot two partitions of win 10. one is upgraded, and the other is a clean install each time, to see the differences. but got to keep that upgraded one.
