ok. What about the IT guy who has to deal with 800 computers running Windows 10 ?
What about him? Not sure where your going with this? Enterprise customers do upgrades/updates differently. He or she can do them when he wants, if he wants.

. . . When you upgraded from Windows 7 or 8.1, you didn't reinstall Windows, did you? In fact, you were required to upgrade if you wanted Windows 10 to activate.
Never did that. Must admit, I have never upgraded ANY version of windows.
Except for new builds with 10.
I always reinstalled a full versions.

Currently, I can use the Insider version, but choose to run the 10 Enterprise Evaluation for now.
So I have no experience at all about upgrading a system.

MS wants to appeal to business.
If IT is hammered with endless upgrades, that would require mega hours of maintenance.

That's for corporate entities to worry about, not those of us in TenForums. As I said earlier, although many here work in the Enterprise area, TenForums is still more for the consumer than Enterprise.

I prefer clean installs over upgrades, when possible. Less to go wrong and you starting over with a clean slate. Have to admit though, I've done 5 so far and no issues that I know of because of it.

They would be most likely running Enterprise version without all those Apps. There's also a procedure for automatic updating/upgrading/maintenance without even touching remote computer.

I have used every build. Only since they introduced the fast ring did the experience change.

If they are running the right version, the IT person has total control over how upgrades and updates are done. You may be running the Enterprise version, but its not setup like it would be in a corporate environment. The IT person can lock it down as they see fit.

The entire process has changed. It used to be service packs rarely and they had issues,
and now it's update after update after update.
Daily, weekly, monthly updates. The OS no longer runs in a finished state.
