How come insider edition is not getting those updates, all I've seen are Defender updates, small at that. I thought us insiders would get everything first.
Btw, my 8.1 is still not offering to upgrade to 10.
    Edit.
Ooops, spoke too soon, this just showed up.

Got that too but not in a hurry to upgrade, both 8.1 and 10 are running great, can and do use them interchangeably.

Fine, what I don't understand is the statement " Upgrade could come as soon as few days or weeks"

I understand statement but as to why is not clear. Been an insider from very beginning with same MSA on both and feet dragging still.

For the very same reason, I have backed up my Win8.1 and upgraded to 10(I prefer upgrade over clean install due to laziness) and will decide in a couple of weeks but so far it looks OK.

    My experience.

Went to MS download web site and got 'create media for W10' link. Successfully downloaded ISO image of W10 Pro 64bit and burnt to disc.

1st PC upgraded W10 Pro over W7 Ult no problem, with roll back to 7 if needed. Retained all settings, programs, data, etc. Got a product code key using ProduKey. Made a backup image and then did a test clean reinstall using ProduKey and all good.

2nd PC, tried to upgrade W8.1 Pro to W10, retaining all programs, files, etc.

Downloaded heap of updates, and got as far as 70% installed, then failed to reboot. Repair failed, and auto rolled back to W8.1 Pro. Time elapsed about 2 hours.

Tried 3 more times over next 24 hours with same result. Followed a link to MS tech support off error message. Allowed MS techo to take control of my PC. He said my internet data was being hacked by China location. He offered to fix it for one month at $299, or 12 months for $500.

I declined, and phoned my ISP tech support. They said my data was not being hacked, and went on to say they had received a number of complaints from people around Australia experiencing the same problem ... ie specifically getting to about 70% and hanging.

A short while later the MS techo phoned me back and said they had fixed the problem for free for one month, but strongly suggested I get permanent protection by paying the $500. The free call MS help phone No in Aussie was: 1800 757 069 .

So I tried again for the 4th time, and same result, only this time reboot failed at 45% ... despite being told the problem had been fixed by MS.

    Comments please?
What link where to Microsoft tech support did you follow? That was not Microsoft. They would not charge you like that for that. IMHO You were scammed. If you gave them control of your PC, and it was not Microsoft your PC and all its personal info has been compromised. Big time. The can likely log back in anytime they want too. It's an on going phone scam around here. They call, say they are Microsoft, and that your PC is infected and they can fix it. Then they log in and install spyware. Then they remotely block your PC from the Internet and demand money to fix it and unlock it. Then a month latter they do it all again.

    Hi there

if I get these phone calls I would merely say "Go and XXXX a Duck" and put the phone down. You know what rhymes with DUCK. !!! You won't get bothered again.

One thing about these Scams - usually coming from "The sub continent" or places like that --they HATE being sworn at so they'll try for easier pickings (victims) to propagate their nasty work on.

If you are in the UK the authority for Internet Scams / phone scams etc is The City of London Police (NOT the MET) who have quite a decent dept to handle scams etc. Don't be afraid to send details to them --unlike a lot of "Plod" these days this bunch are quite helpful.

Even if you AREN'T in the UK it's still worth while contacting them as Internet crime is truly international and again these people have good international contacts.

    Fraud and economic crime

What I do is leave the phone on and walk away. They can't end the call from there end. Seems to work here.

Probably no help, but I would suggest you download the Media Creation Tool to the desktop affected and instead of burning to disk, run the tool and choose Update this PC. Since nothing else has worked, it's worth a try.
