    @Gary

As far as upgrading to 10240 it might work. I haven't tested that method. It should be activated and not have an expiration date but I don't know.
It is activated and running winver shows no expiration date.

Let say 10240 is the release version that coming out on the 29th. Wouldn't that mean non-insider would start seeing windows 10 install prompt on the 29th or are they going to have to wait days or weeks before it installs or even downloads? After my testing (see my post in another thread) I suspect 10240 is actually a release version but can't say for sure.

I’ve also upgraded to build 10240, last night, from a clean-installed build 10162 of a couple of days ago. Build 10162 was kept “untouched” in my system – meaning without any Registry hacks - and without any software installed, besides CCleaner and the Office 2016, because I wanted to keep my installation as “fresh” as possible.

I will report my observations, so far, meaning after a couple of hours of use:

    1) That issue when certain applications prevent my system from shutting down or restarting is still present in 10240 build. I have observed it happening occasionally but after having rebooted for more than thirty (30) times already, it appears to be gone. I cannot tell for sure, though. I want to underline that I have not applied the known Registry hacks for this issue, because I want to see how the build is functioning, untouched.

    2) I’ve created a folder with three pictures and set it as the “Sources” of the Photo app. It always shows just one and the same picture though. The live tile of the Photo app is turned on and I’ve set it to “Recent photos”. Is this a bug? How is the live tile of the Photo app supposed to function? Is it supposed to function like a Slideshow, and display all of the pictures in the respective folder the user sets? If so, how can I set the time of pic change? I come from Win 7 and I have never used it before.

    3) The live tile of the Mail app is STILL not functioning! I’ve set the Mail app as my default app for e-mail, added three e-mail accounts, and set all of them to synchronize as soon as new mail arrives, and also to notify me via the Action Center. Just now I’ve checked: nothing shows on the live tile. Right away I opened the Mail app and I have five (5) new e-mails in my accounts…

    4) The live tiles of Money, News, Weather are actually live. They do update. Does anyone know what is the purpose of Microsoft Edge’s live tile?

    5) In my system I have the Mail & Calendar app installed, of course. Why is it asking me to choose a default Calendar in the settings? (Is it because I have 3 different mail accounts?)

    Attachment 24630

    6) The notifications icon on the Task bar becomes white, indicating there are new notifications, but when I open the Action Center nothing new (or old) is there.

    7) I still have this ugly text blurriness in the 125% Zoom that I am obliged to use in my system, otherwise all the text, and everything, is minuscule. Also, in this build, as well, when I’ve tried to “Change only the text size”, [Control Panel/ Appearance and Personalization/ Display], again the Menus do not change their size. I’ve tried it both by setting everything in the drop down menu to “12” and then Apply, and also by setting one by one and Apply-ing right away. It does NOT work. Also, this setting does not affect the Start Menu, unfortunately. And also it has weird, unpleasant effects in Office 2016. Here is, for example, how the Menus in the File Explorer display when everything in that drop-down list is set to “11”.

    Attachment 24631

    8) My logon screen still displays time as a number and not in the time format I use on my desktop. I always use a 24h time format. It does not show it on the Logon screen.

My personal conclusion is that almost none of the issues present in the latest builds, on my system, have been fixed. Perhaps the “This app is preventing shutdown / restart” has been fixed but I will have to test further to be sure.
    Hello again

I have installed two hotfixes today. Here is my complete list of hotfixes, as shown after running systeminfo :
Windows 10 Build 10240 for PC is now available-1.png

None of the issues (bugs) I have described in the post quoted above - more than a week ago, I think - has been fixed. None of them!

In addition, after installing the latest GPU (NVIDIA) driver through Windows update, for the first time ever I observe something like "flickering" in system. Specifically, when a window opens, for example "Notepad" or "Settings" or other windows, or even when my desktop background changes, I observe this flickering: I see something like a line on the screen or, in the case of a program window, the bottom of the application window is redrawn / re-rendered, or something. I have never observed such issue before. I think it's called "artifact-ing".

My (via Windows) updated GPU driver:

I am really sorry that none of the above issues has been fixed. I have reported them numerous times and other users (insiders) have reported them, as well. I really hope something from all this will get fixed until July, 29. At least the correct, appropriate, time format on the Lock Screen, for God's sake.... At least that!

Just today, I did a clean install to a new 3TB disk drive with a Windows 10 Pro ver 10240 DVD I created from an .esd file. It was a clean install from ver 10240 to ver 10240. My windows is activated. So I also confirm that you can still do a clean install on a PC that previously had Windows 10 activated on it.

I bought this refurbished Dell Optiplex 790 DT a couple of weeks ago from Dell Financial Services. The pc came with a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, which I immediately upgraded to Windows 10 Pro ver 10162 - 64-bit.

Joanne, I'm on my mobile now, but I'll tell you how I fixed the wrong time format displayed on the Lock Screen later when I sit at my computer

Okay, thank you and I'm looking forward to your solution-suggestion, but I would like to say something (to anyone who is reading this forum seriously and objectively) :

    - It is very disappointing that just a few days before the official release so many bugs exist. Honestly!

Personally, I do have lots of free time this period (this summer) so I do not mind all these bugs so much. But can you imagine a person who is working, who has a family and other important business to take care of, can you picture this man or woman upgrading to Windows 10 on the 29th or a couple of days later, and face all these issues?!

All of the sudden, now I have artifacts!
Each time my desktop's background image is changing, and I have it changing every one minute, I get a line or some squares on the screen, like the image is broken! What the f... is this?! Latest drivers, via Win update. Yes, yes, yes, I have downloaded them again, the .cab file provided in this very forum, yes I have clean-installed them 3 (three) times!! Artifacts! Jesus.........................

    Anyway.

I hope it will get better. SOON! There's no time, you see! Unless we just make fun of each other here.... You, me, Microsoft, everybody making fun of each other! Hahaha...
