Yeah I finally got privacy settings KB come through on windows update. But no popup, I scanned start menu and saw an update and privacy settings entry amid the programs, clicked it and the pop up to accept came up. Accepted everything and saw message about 'we will handle update from here etc'. But checking for updates is not pulling creators update through. I though it would find it as soon as those privacy settings had been accepted. At least that was the case on our other pc that got updated a couple months ago. Or are people finding they have to still wait a while?
Wow... just wow. So today on a hunch I checked WU, and lo and behold it was sitting there... But my excitement would soon turn to frustration. Never had a single issue with any W10 update including Anniversary on this ancient desktop, but Creators changed that. WiFi completely shot, and upon Restart which would take minutes I got the below error. Not sure if both issues were connected, since during my troubleshooting loops I got rid of the latter temporarily. But never got either of my D-link DWA-566 or a Cisco WUSB600N (for testing) to work. Even if they installed correctly they failed to connect. Surprisingly device manager would show no errors, but something was up since neither remove of device or (manual) driver update would work, always hung up til I kill the task. Hours and countless restarts later I gave up since I don't have the time and actually work on this machine. Rolled back to 1607 which went flawless. Might get back to it in the way of doing a fresh install of Creators ideally in a dual boot setup so I can easily fall back to 1607 and investigate more, should I end up in the same situation.
Just learned here Old computers not yet compatible with 1703 (Broadcom 440x driver) what happened... wish I had seen it earlier. Sooo looks like the rollout to my machine, as long as it took, was still premature. And it goes to show Microsoft apparently doesn't profile end user hardware to that level of detail for their rollout strategy.
Apparently, I looked on the website, and Microsoft said updating using the Update Assistant was discouraged. Don't know why.
This update has another feature of stopping Nvidia quadro video cards. At least for 2 models i've tried. Hard to troubleshoot without being able to see anything. After 2 days of troubleshooting worked out its the Creators Edition Upgrade causes the problem. So don;t leap to the creators edition if your running Nvidia Quadro Cards.
Still not being even offered the update on mine even a week later after WU downloaded the privacy settings KB ... and I am running Samsung evo SSD, skylake cpu and GeForce 980ti - hardly ancient hardware!!!! Yet my garbage living room box BRIX pc got it months ago! The mind boggles
Careful what you wish for lol... I on the other hand am wondering how I can it back through WU now that I figured out what my issue was and what I can do to evade it. #Windowsupdateproblems
After last update (this week one) i got number of issues , i have cellular connection so now it says "
the modem or other connection device is already use or is not configured properly" if i want use ras one ,while NDIS is very unreliable it does work, also now i need to connect manually to get it working (by clicking off the box that says let windows mange it) my modem may be old but previously it always worked in win 10 why now to ruin it.
also i noticed searching files dont work that well , most files dont appear only the files that are in subfolders and i just lost over 10 gb memory.
I wish downgrade to previous one it sucks
Hi SLeee, Welcome to 10F! :)
There are two ways you can accomplish this; One is by doing a System Restore, and the other is by uninstalling the update.I wish downgrade to previous one
