Windows is doing the update automatically. I have done it 4 times while I am watching, otherwise Windows tries it 3-4 times a day, fails and then reboots back to 740 (I leave my computer running for server duties for the family).

Part of a long list of failures:

I have had a bad feeling towards these first 2 new builds aiming for next major release. Seems my suspicions towards all the internal issues are finally revealing themselves.

The builds has felt glichy from the start, not that anything has crashed for me yet. Just an overall bad vibe.

Just some stupid glitches here, nothing serious, Things like this constant sound warnings with everything disabled. What would be a reason it would make sound like a new device inserted when I choose a bookmark in any browser ? Things in settings that are just place holders for something else too. Not even an idea what may transpire from it.
Very beginning of build was somewhat shaky, first I couldn't make UUP to ISO and than graphic driver was screwing up. Other than that, just business as usual.

Great it is working for you. :)

    I depend on 3 things:
    1. Visual Studio
    2. Hyper-V
    3. USB

If the system is even a bit glitchy, I can not use VS, can't compile proper code or often run into errors that really aren't error, though VS claim they are, or I can not debug properly.

If I have the slightest issue with any drivers (unstable or not working at all) I can be certain that Hyper-V won't work properly either. Hyper-V is unstable as is already compared to VMWare, don't need more errors to add to the stack.

If having stability issues with USB, I can not debug mobile code on physical hardware, and in some cases the computer does not even find my devices at all.

So while there is a slight chance these kind of problems exist, new builds are a no go for me on physical machine. Will stick to Hyper-V setups. Testing will be a lot less though...

15063.138 is smooth as a baby's bum on my hardware. No other problem except for the DISM error we get when trying to restore health. While the image is healthy there isn't really anything to repair, so that is not even an issue for me.

    Cheers!

Yes there are. VMWare croaks with more than 1 processor assigned.

This has not been my experience. In fact HYPER-V has been rock solid stable throughout the Insider program, with the exception of a period of time where there were some network issues. But, to be fair, MS was in the middle of a massive change to the network stack at the time that lasted for a number of builds.

VS has likewise been highly stable, although I don't do mobile debugging.

One thing I do, however, is to do clean installs rather than upgrades every so often. The upgrade process is often flaky, especially for Insider Previews, and lots of junk gets left behind. I also always do a clean install for RTM builds, rather than upgrades.

Any time my system shows the slightest sign of instability, I do a clean install and that has almost always fixed the problem, unless it's known issue or incompatibility with a third party program. Upgrades are great when they work, but when they don't you just have to start over.

Hehheh, Hyper-V has always been the weaker one vs VMWare. Mostly due to VMWare being more evolved and has a lot more compatibility.

As I said, if I have the slightest DRIVER issue or instability, all 3 (VS, Hyper-V and USB) does not work properly. VS in it self is very stable, no issues. Also if Windows has issues with memory management (leaks and corruptions etc...), coding/debugging is a nightmare, no matter which IDE I use (and I use many IDEs in addition to VS)

I can do a clean install or upgrade, I get the same result, and after an upgrade I can manually put Windows in same state as it would be after a clean install. No problem there.

"DISM" I don't think MS will be able to fix this shortly. Heard that the RS3 new core system will implement ARM processors, any body else?

Yes this is one of the main goals of One Core that MS is developing. Windows is supposed to be able to run on anything with a CPU and memory, in the future.
