How to get the Windows 10 Creators Update

Yes but you may have to be patient, it's being rolled out in phases. In addition, you may have hardware with known issues that's being blocked from receiving it until they're dealt with. More here...

Waiting for Windows Update to do the upgrade has always proven to be the most unreliable and failure prone method of updating. Doing it manually has historically proven to be faster and more reliable.

All true, but a manual install bypasses Microsoft's controlled rollout...

Blocking availability of the update to devices we know will experience issues is a key aspect of our controlled rollout approach...

It’s important to note that when customers ... manually install the Creators Update they bypass many of these blocks. Therefore, we continue to recommend (unless you’re an advanced user who is prepared to work through some issues) that you wait until the Windows 10 Creators Update is automatically offered to you...

Windows 10 Creators Update rollout: First phase update

Waiting to be offered, then manually installing would be the safest approach for those who don't feel they are 'advanced users'.

A manual install can be done but I still wonder if there's a reason the update hasn't been made available, possibly due to the known hardware issues Bree mentions. I clean installed the Creators Update on my machine probably 2 months ago and it's all working fine. I decided to just wait and see if the update would come for the laptop. I don't actually know if NZ has officially received the update via Windows update yet or not so it could also be the reason...

You can continue to ask all the what-ifs or just do the upgrade manually. I know what I did. I manually upgraded the dozen computers on my home network the first week without a problem.

I was offered a security checklist last week on my Asus 2in1, thinking that CU would follow shortly afterwards, but no joy so far. No hurry on this one, but might do it manually ?
