Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16170 for PC Insider

Only once I got stuck, lost patience and did a clean install, that was on 15002 I think. Once or twice had to redo it couple of times. Now I'm waiting to build a new system and will probably do a clean install on it.

The 10th try it finally upgraded. About 10 hours of my life. From what I can see there is not much different.

Just remember to do it BEFORE you hit Restart.

Using UUP>ISO by Kari, it can be done before or after install. You just cannot run disk cleanup if you do it after.

Also, you will need disk space. If your system disk is full, probably better to do it before as well.

well, after at least 8 tries on my desktop, which is relatively new and which always updates with new builds and is problem free, I gave up. Woke up in the night (I'm old so I don't sleep well) decided to try my laptop, which is about 10 years old. I downloaded and updated to 16170 and it works flawlessly as far as I can tell at this point. Go figure!.

I was just going to try that, Magilla. Laptop is set up and charging for a try in the near future. Then I'll grab an ISO from it and try this one . . . again.

On my fourth install try and stuck at 82% download for the past hour. Never had this sort of an issue previously.

I got stuck at 75%. I rebooted and started the upgrade again and it went straight through.

Sometimes, can't explain why, the upgraded files are not present after the upgrade. Therefore, even if this is quite rare, I recommend doing the ISO before you click Restart now.
