Which key are you going to use? My laptop also has the core embedded Windows 8 key and in the past when I did the same as you for some odd reason 10 Home got installed instead of Pro. Had to use a Win 8 Pro key to upgrade to 10 Pro.

I called MS on this and they were to ones to have me use my Win 8 Pro key, but I wondering if the generic key couldn't be used; thus my question of what key you'll use?

    Thanks
I didn't use any key, it will activate with the Digital Entitlement it has for Pro. It didn't auto install Home, it asked me to pick from the list. So I just selected Pro. Normally I have a PID.txt file with the generic Pro key in it. I removed it so I could test if OEM 8 keys were still being auto detected. I'll put it back though just to speed things up next time around. It saves a few mouse clicks and skips the selection screen.

Any body done a clean install with the Cortana voice recognition thingy? I thought that was pretty cool. Just say yes no to the questions asked. The only typing I had to do were passwords for login and wifi.

Right, but I'm telling you what happened to me and wondered if you encountered the same. And yes, it should use the digital entitlement, but oddly enough it didn't for me. Anyway thus my question to you.

    Peace

Ok, I think I know what your looking for. Yes, in the past, if I didn't use a PID.txt file it would auto install 10 Home. I then just typed in the generic 10 Pro key and it would upgrade to Pro, then activate with the Digital Entitlement. Now I put that same key in a PID.txt file and put that in my sources folder of my install media. That overrides the auto key detection and install Pro. My laptop has Digital Entitlements for Home, Pro and Education so I can install any of them and it will activate.
If you do a clean install now, you should be able to do exactly what I did. Click I don't have a key, select Pro, and bobs your uncle. It will activate with the digital Entitlement it has now.

Yeah, that's what I was looking for. And yes, you answered the question... that is use a generic key and all should be fine.

    Thanks.

Update was pretty quick for me....However, 4 or 5 of my programs would not start or work correctly. Had to uninstall those affected and reinstall and that solved that problem..

I also decided to uninstall emsisoft anti-malware and give this new looking WD a try, looks totally different and scanning seem quicker with it now.

I was looking for that as I installed (clean) and turned on the speaker system to hear it but heard nothing. Don't know why it didn't work but I wanted to hear Cortana's voice and so was disappointed. :)

You likely also need a MIC for it to activate. It didn't do it on my desktop PC, just my laptop which has a built in MIC.

EDIT: Having played a lot of HALO, it was a familiar voice to me, lol.
