Fwiw, the Defender error is showing up for the regular non insider builds too. Updating from within Defender gives 1.239.785.0 as installed and up to date. WU still returns this error though.

This Defender update problem is a known issue, apparently. @jyim89 of the 'Microsoft Windows Defender Team' has registered on TenForums to say 'we know, we're working on it...'

Update Assistant doesn't work for me...i went to the page from my update manager, and then to the link that microsoft provides...it downloads the file and when i click on the the file it just says: "thank you for downloading windows 10" and nothing happens...

I want to do an upgrade and not a clean install...seems like the assistant is not working properly at this point...

Just download the ISO file to your PC and mount it as a virtual DVD. Then you can double-click on the setup.exe to do the upgrade install.

Make sure to download a fresh copy of the Media Creation Tool to do that, it's only just been updated - the old one will continue to download the old .iso.

All went very smooth. Upgrade Asst. & MCT. Looked just like doing a new Insider build! ISO from MCT appears to be in ESD format, not WIM. Just went by size....too small for WIM.
