Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10166 Insider
-
Interesting: a PC would not find the upgrade. Signed in with an MS Account, Fast Ring selected. Refreshed, restarted the WU service, nothing. Some Defender update, no new build.
Just to test all possible scenarios I created a new user account, with another MS / Insider account of mine. Made the new account admin, signed out from the old one and signed in to new one. Removed the original MS Account, rebooted and signed in with the new user account with this other MS / Insider account of mine and it immediately started to download the 10166.

Downloaded and installed. The install took 13 minutes. I did Shawn's aerolite theme to get the color title bar back. So far it going great. Even Cortana is working good.

LOL Kari - MS didn't like that particular account.....not the one associated with your ISOs on OneDrive was it? (just kidding...)

By Jove, I think MS is getting this download and update thing to work good. Downloaded and installed in 45 minutes flat and all of that with mediocre internet speed and not exactly a beast of a computer. There's still hope for them. A friend of mine just came from work and noticed a strange number in the corner of the screen. He said he could swear he left it on 10162 and now it's 10166.

Has anyone had any lucky getting Cortana to answer to "Hey Cortana"? This feature hasn't worked for me for quite a few builds now. She understands perfectly after hitting the mic button, but otherwise nothing.
There is a setting to turn on/off the "Hey Cortana" bit - have a look in the settings.

Now I get it .......I remember when I was on 100% Copper DSL at about that speeed before the FTTN U verse upgrade here ☻☻
There are wireless carriers of 20m-50m DL speed around my location but they all charge by meter. Just cannot afford!

I have upgraded, too.
Unfortunatelly, some of the issues I was having with 10162 build have not been fixed :
1) Still the live tile of the Mail app does not work. It does not show the new mails, neither am I getting notified in the Action Center, as I have it already set up.
2) Again, sometimes when I reboot or shutdown there is an application (or two) preventing the computer from proceeding. I've succeeded to see the "DDE Server window" or something like that, there. It proceeds by itself after a couple of seconds but, why does it do that?!
Finally, no improvement in the text blurriness of numerous Windows components, to which I've already referred, but I was not expecting anything on this.

Mine took 50 minutes from update to desktop, finished at 12:20 MST.
I was hoping my CD/DVD would start working but no such luck. It has not worked since I installed Win 10.
