Cumulative Update KB4016635 for Windows 10 v1607 Build 14393.970

Is the error updating apps from the 969 update a widespread problem? I am sure I've been updating apps in the past few days ok on two machines. I prefer to let my updates come through windows update in the conventional way. I'm happy to wait for that but was curious as to how many have been affected with the store app update issue. I guess if I see this issue crop up I will bite the bullet and try the standalone install method.
i don't understand why MS doesn't release it to Windows update as a bug like that is a pretty major thing and I imagine the vast majority of the public will be oblivious to the standalone download method of updating
I had the problem on 1 of my 4 PCs. Sometimes GetOffice update was failing 4 or more times a day since 3/16. Most annoying. Glad it's fixed.

Ok thanks for the info. Strange that it's just 1 out the 4. You'd think it'd be all or nothing!

Go figure. I fixed it for one day by removing the app with powershell and letting it reinstall on its own but the very next day the failed updates started all over again. grrrrrr. Not the first problem we've seen with the Store and likely not the last.

I think you have to use Edge.

I think you have to use Edge.
Confirmed. Downloading using Edge. "Website encountered a problem" when I used FF
Now installed on Surface Pro 4. Very slow to install.

It works in all my browsers - Edge, IE and FF. I have seen this error occasionally, ironically only in IE (which used to be the only one you could use). A little history may explain what's causing it.
Originally the catalog required IE because it used ActiveX. Then MS rewrote the site to remove this requirement so it works on all browsers. Both versions arre online, the ActiveX one with a catalog.update.... address and the new one with a www. at the start of the address. After a while a redirect seems to have been put in place to go to the new site whichever address you typed, but you can still get to the old site.
This error seems to be induced by visiting both sites - I'm guessing they both use the same cookies but in different ways. A conflict perhaps? Whatever - clear the cache and type the www. version of the address and it should work on a second attempt.

No. It's not being distributed by windows update. If you need it you have to download it from the catalog. Unless you have one of the two problems listed in post#1 then you don't need it - those fixes seem to be the only new bits in this one.

Just a lill question, do I need to install .969 first or can I go along installing the (cumulative) service update .970 right away?
Cheers
