I have three machines running 15063.11 builds and two nights ago I noticed that my main computer and XPS 8700 had two odd files within the Program(x86) folder. One file was a Lenovo program the other was an AMD VulkanRt program.

The Dell XPS 8700 machine had no reason to have an AMD folder because it uses an NVidia graphics card. Likewise the Dell product has no reason to have a Lenovo program folder.

Why is this happening? All three machines after updates to 15063 appear to have been automatically set by Windows to use Delivery Optimization for updates within settings. Thus within the local network one computer can share downloads that may have already been downloaded by another computer on the network. Besides the XPS 8700, I have a Lenovo Yoga 710 laptop and an XPS 8100 with an AMD graphics card. It appears the Lenovo has been attempting to download a driver/firmware update and XPS 8100 has been attempting to download an AMD update that somehow began to show within the XPS 8700 Program(x86) folder.

It appears to me, there may be some issue of corruption within the present update system.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

I have been an Insider since the beginning of the program an never seen this apparent corruption. Actually, I have always had the machines set to not allow download optimization but ISO appears to change setting.

I installed all three 15063 builds recently using the new ISO from Microsoft. It appears the ISO automatically changed my setting of OFF for update delivery optimization to ON.

Thanks, this is new stuff to me. If I read you correctly this shouldn't happen if I disable automatic time zone?

After changing time manually, set up again as shown below makes no difference.
Could this not be affected if Location in Action Centre is switched on ?

Yes, something similar. I have a MacBook Pro and Lenovo X201 which both have Intel HD graphics and no dGPU. Neither have AMD anything.

I use WUMT to check for updates (using Windows Update) and was in both cases offered AMD chipset driver. I installed it out of curiosity on my Lenovo and unsurprisingly it then wouldn't boot until I uninstalled it again.

It seems (at least for me) this issue of Windows Update giving irrelevant AMD downloads is fixed as it isn't being offered any more.

You could check what Windows Update is offering using WUMT and see. You don't need to use it to install anything - it will just tell you what Windows Update thinks you need.

Researching this a bit more, I can now see how it works. When Windows can't access my precise de facto location, it relies on information given by user. In my case, although being located in Germany (time zone UTC+1), when Windows can't find the precise location it uses the location set by user.

As I want my Windows to be as much English as possible, including day / date names and formats I always set location manually to UK:

When Windows is not sure about the actual location, it uses this information. In my case, time zone being applied automatically, Windows when unable to find de facto location based on location services thinks I am in UK and sets time zone accordingly which then causes Windows time being -1 hour off.

Disabling automatic time zone seems to be an easy and perfect solution.

I had Same problem long time ago, also fixed it by setting time zone manually. Since then it works fine, even DST.

MS gets easily confused. I know where I am (I think), so I'll tell it myself. Always have.

Hard to tell where you are.....how long is your daylight now, 1-2 hours?
