That's my remembrance as well. I don't think Windows updates during an installation. BTW ever tried updating Windows 7 from a clean using WU only? Not fun.

Interesting. I'll try to install the same way while creating a new account. Be back after I go shopping.

It says it's checking for updates but can't say if it actually does some, maybe drivers who knows, there's no way for me to check if it downloads anything until all installed. If I had 2 computers on same router I could see it there.

It was a real pig. It's a bit better now there is an "SP2" rollup.

I think all it's doing is checking for updates to itself, any last minute tweaks. Similar to WU (and this is on the WU screen somewhere), it says Windows Update may update itself before continuing. TC

Back. It did not check for updates during installation nor did it activate automatically using a new Microsoft Account. It did however after installation it did automatically adjust the time when I chose the time zone as Eastern. Naturally I'm happy with that as I pointed out the time sync problem during early development. The new Facebook Universal App (so marked) worked perfectly. The host is Windows 2016 Standard Evaluation (I'm saving to buy it in 2 months when the trial expires). Using VMware Ws 12.5.5 (the latest update. I should also mention that I installed using a SATA drive (virtual drive 32GB) and UEFI boot. My physical BIOS can use a "hybrid" UEFI but I prefer the standard MBR (except using BTBM to mutiboot)

I think Microsoft did a good job here and will be interested to see where rs3 goes in about a month I figure. Worth 200 bucks? No. Glad I got a Technet subscription when it was cheap to get keys.

Also it did activarte when I entered one of my legal keys. This did not happen with earlier builds. Here are some screenshots.

I'm liking this build quite a bit. Not as great a thrill as when I first saws Windows 3.0 come up in a GUI (1990?) but close enough for the 21st century. I'm going to do a fresh install on the physical drive.

I don't think so, it's basically one spot which has some bug... I had it before clean install as well... I did a full format of HDD, then installed 15063 and still the same... tried several things with sorting, even option to not align icons in grid, and it's still hard to get the icon back to its spot above start button...
I'm having the same problem. Any fix for this yet? TIA

Installed on my physical hard drive. Now it was automatically activated but still did not update during install.
No problems yet - looking very good here.

    Running 15063.11/1703, recently installed.

Noticed in registry there is a Google Chrome key in both HKCU and HKLM. Chrome was my default browser but uninstalled prior to installation of 1703. (Fast Ring upgrade, not clean install)

When I try to delete the Chrome key get the message "Cannot delete Google. Error while deleting key." I did a Reset with same result.

I also googled for info and tried to remove after startup in safe mode and other recs to no avail.

Is this an item of concern ? Appreciate any comments.
