Hello there! Everything is ok :) Update went well so far.
I'm back after an all-nighter and very long call to Dell for my 14363.969 version. Forced to reinstall W-10 from the ground up. The failure happened after i did a shutdown and restart. Very odd as the machine was generally fine otherwise. I grant that Dell is overly cautious when a failure happens. I have reinstalled everything and only a few things are at issue for Dell to take care of as my support includes software issues :)
Microsoft has not offered the update to *.970 and I'll forgo doing it manually again for now.
As is generally the case - if you don't need it don't do it.
Just my 2 cents.
I reinstalled the update and everything seems okay so far. That process went away and cpu and disk is behaving. Maybe something went wrong during the install last time.
You may have got March 15th 2017 Update KB3150513 for Windows 10 Version 1607 as well the first time.
It could have triggered the compatibility diagnostics to run. That would give high cpu and disk activity until it completes (ran for about 10-20 minutes last time I saw this happen, as I recall). Getting ready for the Creators Update, I guess. This update provides the latest set of definitions for compatibility diagnostics that are performed on the system.
my laptop is trying to update to this KB package..
- it's stuck at preparing to install 36% at the moment..
EDIT: it also installed Bing Bar 7.0 and has now requested a restart - here goes..
EDIT2; restarted ok - now I'm going over to the Insider Program to get the Windows10 Creator's update preview, as offered..
- hey, ho..!!

just a thought but they could inform you before hand that (THIS UPDATE MAY TAKE A LONG TIME ON SOME SYSTEMS)
My desktop took an hour to download and install, but a laptop I was using for a slideshow was 30% into the install and took 30 min to complete...very annoying, could not back out and had to wait ... Grrrrrrr.
