Microsoft kindly left me a shortcut for Edge on the desktop. They must be getting desperate.
And this happened with canceled downloads (yesterday evening)

And this happened with canceled downloads
(yesterday evening)
I think I'm going to start charging MS for my time.
W7 Cumulative update 1 hour
W10RP Cumulative update 3 hours
W10 fast ring upgrade to 15058 4 hours
The bill is in the post.

Fixed it, Network was set as Metered. Now it's downloading a bunch of updates for Office 2013 and some security and WD definitions. Probably needed to update those first.
Ps. Spoke too soon
3 times same thing.

Currently updating 15055 to 15058 on VM using UUP method. The download was really tiny, and that is probably why some of you experience long upgrade times. The system copies already existing files from the system to the update folder. That is about 60k files in total. If you are on a HDD, then that WILL take a long time because of slow access times. I have SSD and it was really fast processing all the files. I bet someone with a Samsung 960 Pro M.2 nVME-stick as system drive would have a really fast upgrade experience.
Upgrade currently in final stage, and took less than 30 minutes to get there.

Ugh, that means it's something on my end, gonna do disk cleanup and try again with UUP off.

Interestingly mine seems to be as much CPU bound as I/O bound and I'm running on a USB2 attached HDD.

Before you do the disk cleanup, just clean up WU and reboot

I've tried "Retry" 11 times - it doesn't want to download at all, so I'm giving up on this one for now
- maybe I'll try again in a few days..
- a mysterious error message doesn't do the thing for me..
