    Hey Anak, :)

No worries. It'll only hide or show the message without any consequences. You will still be able to update to the Windows 10 Creators Update when it is released via Windows Update.
Although experience shows manual upgrading via an iso to be most reliable way to upgrade. Also it can take a while before users get upgraded via Windows update.

Solution for crashing players after latest Windows 10 update (KB4013429)

    Wednesday March 15th 2017

This Windows update contains a new version of the file CompPkgSup.dll which has a bug that can cause applications to crash. It only happens when an application uses the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder (msmpeg2vdec.dll) on systems where MPEG-2 is activated in that decoder. That is either when you installed the DVD Player app from Microsoft, or if you upgraded from Windows 7.
    Solution #1:
Windows Settings app > Update & Security > Update History > Uninstall updates > Uninstall KB4013429
    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Many thanks to sergey for the above. Solution 1 has worked - for now!
Background ~ I've used Windows Media Center during the many incarnations of Windows to watch live TV thro' various usb and TV tuner cards. For Win10, I d/loaded the WMC which integrates itself into Windows as "ehome". I've tried but not got the knowledge to configure more complex progs such as Kodi to do what WMC does so easily. So it was with much annoyance that this update resulted in WMC failing whenever trying to watch live TV.
I followed the instructions to delete KB4013429 and after an interminable wait, WMC is usable again so repeated thanks.

However I need guidance now please on how to prevent KB4013429 reloading when I shut down - assuming it will try to reinstall.

You don't show what version of 10 you're running so you may have to do a regedit, but this may help: Windows Update - Enable or Disable Check for Updates in Windows 10 If not look at the bottom of the tutorial for more related and there's even more under the "W's" in Tutorials.

I appreciate your quick & helpful reply Anak.

I've followed your link and the reg entries were installed OK.

...........now to do more reading on ensuring I update only what I need ~ if that's possible !

    Thanks again.

    Remove the DVD Player app
Thanks for a concise description of the bug. Solution #2 is not a complete solution as there are other cases that will try to use msmpeg2vdec.dll. Attempting to play .TS or .VOB files in Films & TV or Media Player for example. Solution #1 is my preferred option.

It's good to show your version and build. Btw, you might be a little behind I'm using 14393.953 and your showing 14393.0; but I erred, I should've asked that I wanted to know your edition, home or pro, that caused my reference about using regedit or grpedit.

Updating what you need? I'm sure there are threads around the forums, lets see: Here's tenforums search for Updating what you need and opting-out. Do a web search for those two terms to find more.

That tutorial I posted earlier "enable, disable" should work, but with win10 you never know.

The hours I've wasted chasing why WMC kept crashing

My pleasure, yes interesting, the fix may not come until April with creator, if then. I don't use WMP or WMC that much but from what I've tested so far, all's good for me.
