Unpatched Windows Vulnerability Gets a 3rd Party Fix

A third-party security group called 0patch and created by experts at ACROS Security released a third-party patch for the Windows gdi32.dll memory disclosure bug in an attempt to address the vulnerability until Microsoft ships a patch. This is projected to happen on March 14 when Microsoft rolls out this month’s Patch Tuesday updates.

You beat me by a minute to post this (not now, way before)

It would be interesting to know how many Windows users will install 3rd party fix... I think most will pass

    Don't need it.

On the good side, exploiting this security flaw involves deploying a specially crafted EMF file on a vulnerable machine and this can only be done with direct access to the computer. It goes without saying that users should stay away from such files coming from sources they cannot trust at least until a patch is delivered.

I wonder how they handle Windows aggressive protection of its own operating system files from tampering.
