You can clean install any other language like for instance EN-GB any time, it activates automatically based on your machine's digital license. Windows product keys and digital licenses are version and edition but not bit version and language specific; you can buy a laptop with pre-installed French Windows 10 Pro in France, bring it home and clean install a Dutch Windows 10 Pro on that laptop skipping the product key, it will be automatically activated.
Alternatively you can upgrade with another language version ISO image for the same edition. You will lose your installed software, of course, but activation remains.

Just UUP-updated to /15046 and downloaded and installed the latest WD definitions. Oh boy, how quick these upgrades/updates are processed with the latest builds. Great work MS!

Up-and-running again in my VM-WIN10-15046u and glad I didn't jump-ship and kill my VM-WIN10-15031 install due to the major hiccup, because now I know "...everything's gonna be alright, tonight!" eventually.

Defender Defs don't show in Update History because they're not really system/security updates....just definition file updates.

They will show in Reliability History.

Obvious MS should change the "Problem Details" windows header in "Successful Installs and/or Updates". A successful Windows Update is hardly to be called a "Problem"! /nit-picking

I used the ISO 64-bit to install in Hyper-v. Wouldn't install in Generation 2 mode. Installed in Generation 1 mode.

What? My ISO images are always made for both Generation 1 (BIOS / MBR) and Generation 2 (UEFI / GPT).

Tested now, I have no issues to install in Generation 2. Did you go to VM settings before starting the VM and disable Secure Boot? A Gen 2 VM in Hyper-V cannot boot from DVD / ISO if Secure Boot is enabled.

Notice that even if you have Secure Boot disabled, sometimes when you Start VM the Press any key to boot from DVD has already timed out when VM Window will be fully opened, therefore showing this:

Workaround is really simple: just select Action > reset to restart, this time you will have the option to start from DVD:

It is very simple. Upgrades do not use product key activation. Your licence is a new digital licence tied to unique mobo id and registered with MS. So when you reinstall it, MS check your hardware id against their activation database and if they find a match it activates automatically.

They simply give a generic key which is same for everybody just so it is obvious pc has a digital licence (and presumably to stop software crashing).

The key is no longer used for upgrades.
