    Typo fixed, thanks.
Of course there are, for instance in UK English x64 PRO build 15042 upgrade the folder in question contains a total of 630 files (229 files in main folder d00630587706295696417aabf4685ed4 and 401 files in subfolder Metadata). Of those 630 files 13 are ESD files:
Naturally, as is clearly told in UUP to ISO tutorial, those files will be removed when upgrade is done. That's why the tutorial instructs to copy the files and make ISO before you click Restart now to perform the upgrade.

Kari, there were no/none/zero/nada/zilch .esd files under the Download or SoftwareDistribution folders. I checked multiple times with several different tools including the File Explorer search using ext:esd and Everything search. This was done before I clicked on Restart on my Oracle Win 10 Pro X64 VM.

I'll try it again a littl4e later when I upgrade my Toshiba laptop which is running Win 10 Pro X64 as well.

    • Fact: If your Windows 10, regardless of its build, downloaded and prepared build 15042 upgrade, the upgrade files needed to create an ISO image, all of them including all ESD files were downloaded and stored in folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\d00630587706295696417aabf4685ed4
    • Fact: It is impossible to upgrade to build 15042 using Windows Update without said files (including ESD files) being stored in said folder
    • Fact: Those files will be (mostly) removed when upgrade has been done and finished
    • Fact: In some cases those files can still be seen after the upgrade has been done and finished in folder C:\Windows.old\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\d00630587706295696417aabf4685ed4. However, for reasons unknown to me this is true in most cases but not always, for instance in my case I've done 7 15042 upgrades since yesterday, of those upgrades 6 (PRO x64 in Finnish, UK English, US English and German, EDUCATION x64 in UK English and US English the files were in said folder under Windows.old but they were nowhere to seen in Swedish PRO x64 upgrade

Confirming that I have 13 *.esd files in C:\Windows.old\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\d00630587706295696417aabf4685ed4 on my system after updating to 15042.

I have a 3rd party AV (Vipre.) On previous builds the periodic scanning by Defender was available (and I enabled it.) Definition updates for Defender were installed through Windows Update. On build 15042 I found that shutting down Vipre allows the Window Defender page to open and be populated. I have restarted Vipre, now the Defender page opens (and is populated) but closes after a few seconds.

As long as the files you found are complete, and same version and bit....home x64. If the one that doesn't want to update ever had UUP turned off, turn it on again, and retry first.

    - problem with Mobile15043 and Edge..??

    - is anyone else having problems with Edge when using Continuum..?
    - it doesn't function at all, as far as I can tell..

    - I've reported this to Insider Team via Feedback Hub under Build 15042,
    - 'cos MSinsider team have disabled Feedback and Upvotes in Build 15043's feedback page..

    - I'm also having difficulty with Phone Companion
    - when phone is attached via USB3 cable, photos and video transfer isn't functioning..
    - the glitch has been present for the last few Insider Builds..

    - the response from the Insider Team during the recent live meeting, was that they don't use it often..
    - it was kinda brushed over, as though it wasn't important..
    - it was a busy line though, with hundreds of questions being fired at them, live online..
    - so I understand that it might have appeared insignificant (?) - however...

    - it's still glitchy, you guys..!!

Windows 10 Pro x64 21H1 Build 19043.1151 (Branch: Release Preview)

Finally got the time to get my main testing machine to this build. Had trouble getting to this state, because in 15031 UWP completely stopped working. Could not update using normal methods as NONE of the Universal Apps worked for me. Tried to update using PowerShell but once I rebooted and expected the setup process to begin nothing happened. Go figure.

Finally I tried to use the 15042 ISO I created earlier using a VM. The upgrade went smooth, but once I did the first login, I had to reboot one more time in order to get START, Action Center and Universal apps to launch. I also noticed OneDrive crashed on first boot. That one is working great now too.

So far all seems to be working great. Now for some testing...

    So......, this is a release???
    No expiration, no watermark?
This is identical to what happened last Summer when AU version came out - eventually we got a build without a watermark, and no more significant feature updates. Then we got builds coming at us so fast as they fixed bugs that you barely had time to install one before the next turned up.

This will not be the final build but is pretty much it now. You can tell it is not the final version as you can only stop upgrades or revert to previous version. With final version, you will be able to leave but stay on that version.
