Interesting video about the architecture and the problem with the Win10 scheduler.

Sounds nice, but whether or not it will succeed has little to do with how much raw power it has. Data centers these days are all about the power draw, or performance per watt. They would rather have two servers that draw 50 watts, than 1 server that draws 140 watts. Heat, plus electricity costs when you have thousands upon thousands of servers is the biggest obstacle facing data centers today.

If AMD hits mainstream and Intel isn't able to defend their crown. This will force Intel to become more competitive in pricing at certain levels until they can catch up with AMD's performance lead. We (consumers) win in the end.

I think many people just equate performance to the number of cores divided by price. But real world doesn't reflect thst 8 cores is better than 4. I go for what performs better. It seems even with Ryzen that Intel has performance edge with fewer cores. I am happy to have competition, but Ryzen isn't the monster I was hoping it would be. But that is typical for AMD.

Much depends on OS and SW which can be able to use all the cores/threads available.

Right.. I found that my current processor(A8-6600K) will run my DAW(Studio One Artist) with zero issues and it's just a 4 core/thread. I plan on doing an upgrade to an A10 and add another 8GB of RAM.

That should make my system perfect for my needs for some time to come.

Absolutely right, I love competition. Intel has been well ahead, and all they have to do is lay back and counter punch. If Ryzen is really good, AMD will force them to fight harder. Intel will soon wake up and re-take the lead in price/performance.

It sounds like AMD is blowing their wad right out of the gate (maybe i'm wrong, we'll see) by selling the absolutely best technology they can currently produce. Intel, on the hand, sort of like Apple, tends to introduce the minimal product they can produce, and only release in small increments every so often as needed.

This means that, if true, AMD has nothing in reserve for when Intel leapfrogs. We'll see.
