You can't seriously equate a 6950X and an 8350. Nobody looking for either one would consider the other one as an alternative.
    I supplied the necessary qualifiers.

Having said that, the 6950X is well out of the price range for most people, no matter where you live.
I would've thought so too, but since my supplier doesn't stock every possible component they must think/know they can sell them.

What is your price on a core i5-6600k in australia. Bet its around $350. Where is your massive savings now.
We must get a good deal on those (~$300).

Apparently an FX8350 has better performance benchmark numbers than an i5-6600k.

IMO, graphics card performance seems to be more important than CPU power (currently).

I got to say that I really like these processors. For what I do now I really think one of these would fit my current and future needs perfectly. Since I don't game that's a non issue. But now that I do some music production on my PC the extra cores would come in handy.. heck.. 8 chores and 16!! threads will rock. Oh and at 330 US. That's just about a steal.

If it was that price here I would snap it right now. Unfortunately it's 625Euro for 1800 and 525Eu for 1700. That's enough to make me wait for r5.

That makes loads of sense to me. Right now you can get the 1700 from Amazon.com for 329.99. It's more than I would normally concider spending but with 16 threads I might take the plunge this year and buy parts. I just need the processor, motherboard, memory and a basic graphic card. 16gb of RAM would be perfect.

Bunny J. A report, on the Sonar forum, from a person that builds custom DAW (recording) computers is that the Ryzen's are poor for audio low latency. They are fine for video, gaming, general PC work but his in depth testing with Ryzen comes up short in the audio recording studio world. His suggestion is to avoid the current Ryzen for audio recording studios. Possibly "Ryzen2" will address these problems.

Thanks for pointing that out. I might just stick with an Intel based system... an I5 or an I7.

A link would help. Sort of like I did when posting on initial performance on Adobe and Photoshop here.

    Thanks.

    Here is his latest comment:

Ryzen did show flashes of being the CPU everyone had hoped.
ie: Video rendering performance was excellent (easily bested the 6850k).
If you think about the performance expectations, it's not surprising that an early-release, 1st-gen CPU/motherboard wound up performing sub-par with low-latency audio.
In the coming months (as issues are ironed out and the platform matures), it'll be interesting to see if low-latency performance improves. *If the issue is architecture related, perhaps AMD will resolve the issue in "Ryzen2".

What's wrong with providing a link so we may glean the entire thread???

Ryzen is a brand new CPU architecture, most Windows OS's, apps & games are optimised for Intel CPU's. Once Windows, BIOS's, apps & games are optimised for Ryzen then you will really see how good these new CPU's are. Blanket statements that some youtube reviewers have said that Ryzen is useless for gamer's to me is just silly, they are just as good for gamer's as Intel CPU's, you might be losing some FPS in non optimised games but let's face it anything over 60 FPS in games is good.

Remember that the AMD 480 graphics card wasn't getting good scores when it first appeared, after a few months & better drivers it could hold it's own with the 1060 & 1070 in a lot of cases. I think the same will be true of Ryzen.
