February 2017 security update release delayed

UPDATE: 2/15/17: We will deliver updates as part of the planned March Update Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

Our top priority is to provide the best possible experience for customers in maintaining and protecting their systems. This month, we discovered a last minute issue that could impact some customers and was not resolved in time for our planned updates today.

After considering all options, we made the decision to delay this month’s updates. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change to the existing plan.

It feels like the people at Microsoft are still on Christmas break. Haven't heard much from them since then.

Great news, am not a fan of patch Tuesday ! It's a surprise move from MS, normally they churn the updates out regardless despite known issues.

Does this also delay the cumulative update that has sitting at release preview for the last couple weeks - I expected that to come out today along with the security updates

My guess would be the new cumultive update will include the February security fixes and be a much higher build number than 726 and 726 will never make it out through Windows Update.

That was for Release Preview Insider program. Today is the normal, homeowner, Joe-public, Patch Tuesday.....which has been delayed. The two are not related.

Thanks - I think you are probably right. I wonder if flash updates came through WU today as Adobe has updated it. Sorry for all the questions as i am away from my home pc at moment - but I am always curious as to what I might be walking into !

Ok thanks, I was just wondering because what usually happens unless I'm mistaken is patch Tuesday we normally see three updates come through WU. One is the cumulative, one is the security update and one is for flash. So I just thought maybe it's only the security update not coming through but the other 2 would
