Hi there. Are you referring to Web note mode? If so, it works fine in mine.
Thanks for response. Yet, in web mode. However, I discovered you cannot mark anything up on the home page, markup is enabled after leaving homepage.

    Hahahaha, can't resist.

Long years ago, we had applications which for whatever reason became programs (programmers build programs?), then with the advent of phones and tablets (abbreviated computers), we found our way to apps.

So, the way I keep it all straight in my own mind is that a program is a full blown application with a few gazillion bells and whistles, while an app is an abbreviated application with some, but a lot fewer bells and whistles.
Glad to see you have it all straightened out in your mind, Wyn. Trouble though is one learned just like the layout of our favorite grocery store they'll change it!

I know there's a gazillion useless Modern Store apps, but there are many very useful ones. Been watching them maturing through time since introduction in 8RP early on, especially the default MS installed apps such as Mail, Calendar, People, Weather, OneDrive, Windows phone, etc. Admittedly they were awful at first, but was mostly sparked my interest as to their purpose.

Have you used any on a daily basis to know how they work in conjunction with one another? They have matured more so with the introduction of the new Store in windows 10. There are indeed a lot more “bells and whistles” to them. Their layouts, looks, and navigation are much better.

You're quite welcome. That's interesting. Thanks for the tidbyte!

By homepage you mean the MSN news page that it opens to by default after the introduction page is used?

And all of them are written in a computer programming language?? No?? Yes?? And therefore a program. A Word Processor is written in a computer language and it's a program.
that is exactly what i said above, IF you read it. apps are programs, but not all programs are apps. that IS the difference in them. you can identify an app as a program, but there are programs that you cannot identify as an app. i think it was made pretty clear above. look at the examples.

    yes. that is correct.

You could try few things to rectify the problem:
    1. Reset IE.
    2. Disconnect the mains, press power button for few seconds, leave it to rest for a while and try starting the PC normally.
    3. Switch on the PC and leave it on for an hour or so without you doing anything.
    4. Use sfc /scannow command:SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8
5 Try sfc /scannow after running DISM/Restorehealth command:DISM - Fixing Component Store Corruption in Windows 8
As a last resort, do a clean Install.
    HTH.
Reset IE seems solved the issue. Thank you brummyfan!

Application software (an application) is a set of computer programs designed to permit the user to perform a group of coordinated functions, tasks, or activities. Application software cannot run on itself but is dependent on system software to execute. Examples of an application include a word processor, a spreadsheet design and management system, an aeronautical flight simulator, a console game, a drawing, painting, and illustrating system, or a library management system. My point is that apps and programs are all written with computer programming langues. System programs can be parts of apps as well and they to are written in computer programming languages.

they are alllllllll written in computer language, or they wouldn't work on a computer. that is a useless point. the point before you jumped in to make a useless point, was that they said that there was NO difference between an app and a program. and as i said, while they do overlap a lot, there is technically a difference, which is backup by there definitions.
