I was a bit overoptimistic about my VMs upgrading to 15025 easily but have found a pretty sure fire to do it.

    1) Disable UUP be changing the registry value of EnableUUPScan and SupportsUUP to "0"

This does not work to get the ESD (because I believe that method is history) but does seem to force a download of all the code needed to upgrade to 15025. The registry values are reset to "1" after the upgrade. Thanks to Karl for the hacks. He did indicate that he didn't know how long MS would support ESD distribution. I don't always want to do fresh installs of a build after I've customized an installation but am glad that MS seems more forthcoming in realeasing ISOs to Insiders in a timely manner

"Realeasing ISOs to Insiders in a timely manner" would be great counterbalance to ailing UUP. After all, what to do with a botched update when repair or clean install is required ? My first reflex when update is downloaded is to save at least install.esd if not even whole folder, make ISO and a bootable USB. Only than I let it proceed with update. Although only once I had to do clean install and that's when going to 15002 and it left me with unusable W10. I also had a recourse to restore from MR, have a W7 and Linux Mint in triple boot and couple of live Linux distros on USBs so I wouldn't have that problem for long. For somebody without any of that only recourse would be to use another computer to download and make BOOT disk.

Is anyone else having to reboot to get a screen to come up? I let the upgrade do its thing the other day after a long time it finally did the upgrade but the need to double boot was still there a hangover from the previous gift from the Gods. I decided to download the ISO from MS made a bootable usb and off i went, my thought was this may cure it take all the bad stuff away but no.It does not like Firefox it decides its had enough even before i can import my favorites !I know its got problems but gee fix them please your not making good friends with me. So i am back to my old HP desktop Windows 7 that has not put a foot wrong.

I'll perform a clean install of 15025 in a new VM as well, to check if the UUP for the next build is in any way related to previous upgrades.

Reading this thread for the latest replies, man it really has been a bumpy ride!

    Cheers

Just quoting some Marty's and my posts from earlier in this thread. How can someone so stubbornly refuse to read instructions given to him?

    This from two days ago:

OK. Here's what happened after the upgrade to build 15025

    1) NO install.esd. I use the Everything program and service to search.
    2) SupportUUP and EnableUUPScan have both been reset to enabled "1".
I am feeling a bit stupid repeating this time after time, thread after thread: the install.esd file is there if ESD is enabled / UUP disabled but you have to copy it to a safe location before you start the upgrade. We all know it will no longer be there after the upgrade, which has also been told repeatedly.

    And this from yesterday:

Working on updating 3 VMs. 1 VirtualBox 1 VMware on Remote Server and 1 Hyper-V VM on this machine. I'm pretty confident that all will update given time a few resets and retries etc etc. I'd be interested if anybody has succeeded getting a ESD file out of this build.

Marty, I sure did. Set UUP off before I did Check for Updates. AND grabbed the install.esd before clicking restart.
I must be in his ignore list, considering how countless times he has asked the same or said there's no ESD and how countless times I have told yes there is.

All I can say is that both UUP-download and EDS-download are still working for me. No problems, except for the last upgrade I could not create ISO from the UUP downloads as the downloaded files changed quite a bit. I think however that it is possible to create the ISO after some hard work and rearranging the downloaded files. We have all the tools, just need to figure out what goes where.
