Wynona, Winuser already stated, that it was because he used option*#2 in ESDtoISO tool. (esd based ISO instead of WIM based)
I saw that, Andre, but I'd already posted.

That's the only problem I see here with this International forum . . .

Or ignored, Cliff! Remember the little boy who cried, "Wolf!"?

And it was still churning when I stopped it five hours later. Microsoft says it doesn't work the same on all computers.
For me, it was the prep work that took so long, the actual download & install, was close to the old system(ESD way).
I wonder it has to do with it looking at your settings, which default apps you have uninstalled, then writing an answer file to respect those whishes.

OK thanks. Are you running VB with the full 3D setup on this release?
I've messed with the settings a few times when I was trying to get an earlier version to work - it seems that the moment it's only 128MB for graphics, with 3D not enabled .
I could have a go with other settings a bit later - what are your graphics set to?

I'm on 256MB and 3D enabled. Oh and guest additions are running.

Another thing comes to mind... How many user that*had problems deleted download optimization files*(some x ten MB). Could this*has some impact on UUP install process?

As someone else said, Cliff, there's very little installed on this computer; only Office 365 Insider Preview and whatever Windows installed plus Firefox. I don't see how that could have such an effect that it has to initialize for hours and hours. I've seen one person post here that his was going on three days (I think) of initializing.

There's definitely something broken in UUP, and so far Microsoft hasn't figured out what.

There is no way that UUP can be released to the general public with it's present performance. It will cause mayhem out there.
MS and the OEMs wouldn't have*enough phone lines to answer all the complaints. The repair shop would be working overtime also. I decided to continue to try the UUP. I will give it one try to download and install. If it fails*I'm going with the ESD if it's still available. Has MS ever admitted that*they know UUP is a major problem for some of us and that they are working on it?
