Correct. The paid version offers real-time protection but is still not working correctly. I de-activated the trial license, so it doesn't interfere with everything, even on non-insider builds.

Today it has been initialising for two hours already, and I took the precaution of uninstalling Malwarebytes first.

Me too and I do not have Malwarebytes running. Just too many people downloading at the same time :) I turned on download sharing to see if it speeds things up...

The problem is that UUP needs a big test base, and if wimpy Insiders circumvent it, by ESD or WZOR, it ain't being tested! MS will likely disable the ability to use ESD until it gets results.
We tested it and reported it. If MS isn't going to try and fix it why should we continue to test it. I don't care how many times we test it, UUP is not going to fix itself.

    Hi,

Had to go through a clean install to get this to work.
Still had problems with it. Not a very good build IMHO.

    Cheers,

I Installed the latest version on my Insider build and used my lifetime license. I think it was the next day I deactivated it and went with the free version. I'm going to use my license on one of my OEM installs. I just have to decide which one. :)

hey guys, remember that with the 15000 series onward MS are also testing the UUP itself, along with the OS build..
    - it's designed to be the OOBE for the future, that's probably why it's taking longer..

    - we are merely custodians..

That's what half this thread is about. Was that just a random post?

Following instructions I made an image backup before editing the registry to disable UUP and ran disk cleanup deleting 3.14GB of temporary update installation files. I'll now reboot and hope to get the full upgrade including the ESD file which I can use to create a 15025 ISO.

Not the point, I'm afraid, Winuser - each failure, each redownload, each re-initialize... is monitored by telemetry, (if not at your end, at theirs) and that gives MS Error reporting analytics tons of data - its not the Insiders that bother to complain "I'm peed off that it does not work second time" to feedback that make the difference, it's each attempt that works or fails that gives the developers and analysts the ammunition to improve things.

If enough Insiders give up and take the easy way, I tell you, they will just make circumvention more difficult - and what will improve things is tryers, not quitters They can afford to let the quitters fall off the bandwagon, but those who persevere will be the first to see results.
