I got tired of the initializing and re-booted my system. Now it is 0% downloading, A step forward.

I had My ISO burnt to a DVD and ready to go. With all the trouble I had I still may need to use it. I'm done with UUP. MS should do all the Insiders a favor and abandon UUP.
I like the idea of differential upgrade, I would rather see Microsoft to fix the delivery system than abandon UUP.

just to get you prepared for it, same happened to my other machine and ended up getting stuck at 32% during installation and had to start over, so if you don't have much time you might want to switch to ESD method now before its too late

UUP = Unified Update Platform Utterly Useless Process

I've been on Initializing Updates for over an hour now.

Looking at Task Manager / Performance, CPU is pegged at 100% while Ethernet is at 0%.

Took about ~30-35 minutes to upgrade install from 15014 after the download completed--again, I only got the download to commence through WU after turning off UUP in the registry again and rebooting--it began downloading almost immediately. UUP delivery looks like a dead end from this viewpoint so far--I've not been able to use it even once for download. It just sits there. And no, I left it on "initializing updates" and went to dinner, and when I got back it was still there--waiting. Turned off UUP and--boom--away I go in less than one minute after a reboot!...

And nope--the font size selector is still missing--cannot understand why Microsoft would drop this and *say nothing* about it at all... I've used the feature on every build since 10/2014 where it was possible! One other thing I noticed is that the "Run" programs I write in are not being retained in this build--have to write them anew every time. I'm sure there is more.

I use Game mode On but with Game bar and Game DVR off. Will come back if I see some other stuff of interest.

It strikes me that of late far too much time is being throw away on UUP and sacrificed for work and actual Windows features--of which UUP delivery hardly qualifies... They are getting a bit confused in their priorities lately, imo.

Until they work out the bugs they should continue to use the ESD download. We are supposed to find bugs and report them so MS can fix or improve them. UUP is a fail and they know it but haven't done anything to fix it. Until UUP has at least some of the bugs worked out they should stop using it.

Finally got updated after disabling UUP. The worst update experience by far for me.

Tried the TC reg file to change the registry, but, funnily, it didn't work. Changed the reg manually and then the update came down.

I agree full heartedly, the UUP delivery system is a nightmare and what a big waste of resources! Did the MANUAL register tweak and voila, I had activity on my FTH-network and CPU's/Disk at last.

    Just checked again...

Lost a lot of valuable time during this update sequence. Disappointing that MS is using an Insiders group to look at their systems for any activity for the arrival of an update?! /:

After hours and hours of whatever, it booted to a black screen!
    What a waste!

I ended up having to roll back to 14393. Every single 15xxx build so far has introduced massive stuttering into my games. Game Mode on or off didn't make any difference. Probably just going to keep AU on my main machine until the Creator's Update hits for everyone and run Insider builds on my tablet.
