On the whole it's preferable to the alternative.

    Steps:

    1. Open Services
    2. Find Delivery Optimization
    3. Go to Properties
    4. For Startup Type select Disabled
    5. If service is running Press Stop
    6. Wait for Service to stop
    7. Press OK
    8. Close Services

If the service is running but stopping the service is disabled then do the following:

    1. Open Task Manager
    2. Find Delivery Optimization
    3. End that task
    4. In the warning prompt that pop up just press OK and ignore the message
    5. Close Task manager after you have verified that the Delivery Optimization task is killed.

After all this is done, reboot computer just to be on the safe side. Then recheck for updates and wait for the update to be downloaded.

It is normal for the initialization, downloading and preparation of the upgrade to use a lot of CPU (30-50%). The time can vary from 30minutes up to several hours, but be patient. UUP is verifying integrity of every single file (50k+) twice, before and after copying them to the setup directory. It will download all files that can not be integrity checked, but copy all valid files that are already found locally. If you have a slow CPU and a HDD, the time for the upgrade will be a lot slower than on a fast CPU with SSD.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks, Slice! This one gets printed. But I won't wait five hours for it to verify the files I have on this computer, since it's pretty much bare bones with Office 365 installed.

The only thing I can come up with, Kari, is that for most, a double space is used at the end of a sentence. However, as a writer, I've long used a single space at the end of a sentence.

I don't think the * shows up at the end of a sentence only, though.

Apologies I've not read the whole thread so this may already have been answered, but for those of us running 32-bit (in a VM in my case) has this happened yet?

It has not been released for 32bit users yet and probably will only be available as an ISO when that is released. They said it would be at the end of the week so it should be today.

    W7 Ultimate SP1 (64 bit), LM 18.2 MATE (64 bit), W10 Home (64 bit)

    It's getting worse

Much worse than last time (b15014 completed in ~5 hours).

Had to give up trying to update my W10IP VM, after 7 hours with no progress.
I like to use my PC for things, other than updating W10.
