Thanks for the calm and reasoned reply Winona.

I am forced to disagree with:

See, now, I could say that all those who skip Builds for whatever their reasons are "wimpy Insiders" because they skipped a Build or three, since UUP isn't working as it should, but I try my best not to offend anyone, although that's well nigh an impossibility.
...because "whatever their reasons are..." include builds that fail to download/install properly - such as the UUPs recently, builds that inexplicably crash computers on bootup, builds that have intolerable problems with certain graphics etc., or other hardware on certain machines - in which cases the only resort is to roll back, and wait for a new build that does not fail for those reasons - or as I have done once, go out and upgrade a piece of hardware that was conflicting, not necessarily before a build or two had passed on by.

Heck, a build or two has passed me by just by the sheer pace that the team drop them down to us!

If the Insider's reasons are out of necessity and not by choice, they cannot avoid missing certain builds until something changes. Nowt wimpy in that!

If that means MS offering alternative delivery methods, I guess that's OK, and I guess that the ability to use ESD alternatives lets them off the hook - but not forever.

I, and probably many others would prefer that MS released ISO downloads for every build, but it would be too easy to just rely on the ISO to "test the meat and 'taters", without visiting the eatery and checking out the service and facilities too.

Ya know what I like.. the ability to chose the way I get the insider builds.. you have your way and I have mine and that's what's matters. And if we're happy with the results life is good.

Little problem, I'm all out of green cards and Trump is not too keen on illegal immigrants. I missed an opportunity in 1996 to move to Texas to be the boss in newly opened plant my corporation was establishing and was going to arrange all papers for me. I refused because I though that would be too much of cultural shock for me.

Windows 10 Pro IP Build 16299.19 (Branch: RS3 Release)

I just did an upgrade of Windows from Build 15019 to 15025 using ESD download method on a 2-core VM with 2GB RAM. Took me less than 2 minutes to detect the update, download it and prepare for reboot. No significant CPU usage either.

On the host computer with 2 CPU cores with HT and 8GB RAM it took 44 minutes to get the download done and get ready for a reboot using UUP. CPU usage was constantly 30-50%.

That is a BIG difference. :-)

All is almost peachy but some old problems are still there. Notably one with notifications. Had to change some drivers like for GPU and Realtek sound for them to work properly. UUP was still dragging it's a** so only old ESD system worked. I didn't see any effort on their part to fix it. If they drop ESD system and don't fix UUP I'm afraid their base of insiders would shrink to minuscule. It didn't work on at least 4 computers I know of.

Good tip Kari, always believed it being an M$ bug, as for the sarcasm.
This might go some way to explain why I keep scraping my knuckles along the ground whilst walking.
