I'm sorry you feel offended by the use of "wimpy Insiders" It wasn't directed personally at anyone. Your passion certainly isn't wimpy, so how can you expect me to honestly believe you felt it directed to you?
I didn't think it was directed at me personally, but at all those of us who want to test this Build but UUP is not working as it should, so we have decided to go the .ESD route.

Skip a build or 3 or 4, if they don't work out - I do, and I still use the builds that were working, and no doubt I still get problems -which get telemagically reported back to the WER analysts, whose databases mine the cause of the problems and go to fix future issues from those root causes.
See, now, I could say that all those who skip Builds for whatever their reasons are "wimpy Insiders" because they skipped a Build or three, since UUP isn't working as it should, but I try my best not to offend anyone, although that's well nigh an impossibility.

    Fafhrd said:
The UUP is MS's chosen delivery system for Windows as a Service - they may be wrong - your experience with it tells you so, but some others are actually reporting getting a good experience.

Neither you nor I have that pleasure, yet, but I hope there is something better than the 4GB ESD download and long upgrade process, even if it works OK(ish) now.
I am in agreement with Microsoft's trying a newer and faster delivery system such as UUP. My first (and probably second) attempt at each new Build will be as a UUP installation; however, if that new delivery method doesn't get me the new Build, I reserve the right to get to the new Update in the best way I know how. There are more fish in this sea of information than the finless, tailless UUPs.

    Fafhrd said:
If we stop using that delivery method on principle, it's as dead in the water as Democracy is, if certain Politicians could have their way. (Now, I am name calling!)
I don't intend to stop trying with UUP; I do intend to suspend its use if, after a second try to get updates, it's not working. And, if I read you right, I couldn't agree with you more about the political name calling. :)

I look forward to seamless upgrades, with nothing more than a painless monthly CU, and a glance at Winver to tell me I've arrived, and a new thread pinned on TF News beginning Announcing... and telling me what I have to look forward to.
    Me too.

BTW, as far as I can see, not even Microsoft understands completely why UUP works flawlessly for some, not so much for others and is a downright disaster for a third group. I believe they're doing their dead level best to rectify the situation; it will just take time. Meanwhile, I'll do what I must in order to test the meat and 'taters of each new Build.

While researching UUP I entered the search term "EnableUUPScam" instead of "EnableUUPScan" and got some amusing if off-topic hits

Well it has been about 24 hours now and I can say that this build is boring. It was very quick and easy to download and install, no issues whatsoever. But it just doesn't seem to offer me, a non-gamer, any "neat" features to try out. This build is just boring, it works perfectly without issues and there is nothing to report.

Oh well, on to my other projects.
Yeah, I don't see anything to write home about in this Build either!

My policy, too, Wyn, in #331. This is the first time I have deviated from the 'normal' update process and I intend to keep trying the UUP route.

Lately, the updates have become very strange. I get several downloading screens, several initializing screens, several restart screens (that error out) before I finally get a golden BB of a download, install, and restart that works. If there is activity with the Service Host Delivery Optimization process (downloading) in Task Manager OR with Modern Setup Host (installing), the restart to install simply will not finish and will error out. If you get stuck somewhere and you are supposedly downloading or initializing and neither one of those two are running, try a restart and click on retry in the update to see if you can get these two processes to run.
Once you get the Modern Setup Host to finish and then you get a restart prompt, that is when the restart and update will work.

Does doing a clean install of the insider preview builds do anything to improve your situation or rectify it?

    I'm now in Limbo!

I tried to install 15025 last night, took a long time to begin as has been well noted in this thread. Finally got going and at some point it failed. I ended up non-bootable so did a reset which brought me back to 15019.

Now I can't change the Insider ring from Slow to Fast so I can't try 15025 again. The option is greyed out.

Using the settings or registry edit has no effect. If I change WIS to WIF it reverts to WIS.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm running sfc /scannow at the moment just for something to do.

When something like this happens to me, I just go nuclear and clean install the OS over again (build 15019 if you have a bootable ISO or Microsoft's build 15002 ISO and updating from there). These modern OS and the SSD tech make it so quick and easy that it is just easier to reinstall the OS over again then taking the time to understand the issue and fix it.

Do this only if you don't have any important info on the Insider Preview OS....it should fix the issue and allow you to go to 15025.

managed to solve my problem with Dishonored2
I noticed that even after I had switched off Game Mode completely, I was still getting the "Insufficient Memory"
error-message during gameplay, followed by a request to stop the game in order to continue using the PC

Solution: I accessed performance settings and allowed Windows 10 determine the size of the page file
..many moons ago I had set the page file size to a static 8000MB, for reasons I can't honestly remember

    - voila, game runs fine even at Ultra settings..
