Windows 10 Pro IP Build 16299.19 (Branch: RS3 Release)

This is interesting...It seems UUP is first downloading an xml-file. Then it processes system state. Downloads a ton of CAB-files that are actually XML-files containing file lists for each and every package. Then it processes each and every file, including file hash (this is why we have 30-50% CPU usage all the way). Then it copies each and every file declared in each and every XML. Then it downloads whatever has to be downloaded (took me 25s to do the download part for the bigger files). Finally it checks all 50000+ copied files already in the current system for valid hashes (this was the slowest part after the initializing part).

Now I am ready to install new build, containing almost 8GB of 50k+ files in total. Hope it does a move operation for fast installation. :-D

I will clock the upgrade to see how fast it will be. The previous upgrade took me about 25 minutes from reboot to being able to use the system.

Hold on to your hats and keep fingers crossed for me, here we go...

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16281

I was so tired last night that I don't remember if I even posted that I now have Build 15025 or not. It's installed, but not from UUP or Windows Update! I had to get an Install.esd file from a very kind co-member; created my ISO, and the installation was a piece of cake.

I'm with Edwin . . . don't gimme that rhetoric about "this is a preview afterall". There is a point at which I'm full up with unrealistic crap! For the first time, Microsoft created that point with UUP!

That's not too bad! My fastest UUP upgrade last night took just under two hours, the slowest over 7 hours (upgrade announced and found by a Hyper-V vm just after 9 PM my time, ready for restart 4:15 AM).

All ESD upgrades (PRO x64 in FIN, SWE, GER, EN-GB & EN-US) were done by midnight, three hours after the upgrade was released. It had been faster if I could have had all machines on and online at the same time. By 4:30 AM I had uploaded 7 ISO images to OneDrive, those 5 PRO images and x64 Education in original and colonial English

Well, you don't need to make an iso to use the non-UUP esd method to upgrade on top of an older build, of course. And probably better just to save the iso instead of the esd after you've used it, since you made one...
