Interesting that this has become such a huge issue. Thank god that I wasn't the only one experiencing this issue and it has been noted.

    done, straight forward process.
even left mbam3 installed, didnt uninstall anything.
4.7ghz 5960X, pcie3 m.2, took less than 30 minutes, exactly don't know, but definitely less than 30 minutes.

As a side note, i have a drive on its own backing up windows files (file history).

Yes. It crashes after it has changed from using my video card to the onboard video.
4 crashes at this point, 32%, all with error message 'page fault in non-paged area' These crashes were all from attempts using the UUP update system. I decided to use the registry hack and download the update again. The download worked (I have an install.esd file (2,954,042,296 bytes.) But that install failed at the same point, with the same message. Chkdsk and sfc both give a clean bill of health. Insider is on a dedicated SSD. Roll back to build 15014 has been successful. What to do?

Everything finished although it took more than half an hour this time. Can't see any problems, a lot of old personal settings are kept although some devices like printers have to be on and connected for driver to stay.

M$ needs to iron out all fails with Edge in Reliability Monitor as this is it's core browser app in Windows 10.

It's the only app causing no flatline in RM.

Well, what to do was to check notifications to see a message that the update hadn't been finished. Went to updates, and sure enough, it was calling for a restart. What to lose, other than time, so I restarted. And ....... this time the install completed and I am typing this in Firefox on build 15019 :)
