We have quite different requirements since I worked for some time in order to turn off fast startup. It's been awhile but some programs still see fast startup is on even when hibernate is off from the command line. I was only able to turn fast start off because Terabyteunlimited's Bootit Bare Metal had that option. If you do have an SSD I'm not sure why you would even want fast boot but everybody has different needs and I guess people could question whether I need a triple boot system as wew.
We don't want Fast Boot, Marty. We want to turn it off, but if Hibernate has previously been turned off, the option to turn on or off Fast Boot is no longer there.

Yeah, you'd have to run the command at an admin prompt for it to be gone:
    Code:
    powercfg /h off
I just tried it. Worked like a charm.

Not sure about it being bug or not. That's why I asked before what could be difference between disabling hibernation by command or by unchecking it in power settings.

One thing thou, if you have laptop, hibernation could be useful. It uses far less power than sleep. And I'm sometimes using it.
I think my lappy actually hibernates on its own, Andre.

However, what I'm talking about is this:

    1. Hibernation is turned on = Fast Startup option is available to me.
2, Hibernation is turned off = Fast Startup option is unavailable to me.

If this actually holds true, then to me, it's gotta be a bug. I'm not gonna turn off Hibernation just to check it out, though.

I think that's because Fast Start uses the hiberfil.sys file to work.

I don't quite understand, WinUser. Does that command deactivate hiberfil.sys?

That would be right according to the references I have seen.
