Does your laptop still have its default OEM partition from when you bought it? Or did you format the entire HD and install Windows 10 clean on it after buying it?
i installed a brand new ssd on my laptop and replaced the Orem hdd that was reinstalled when it was shipped to me. In other words, my ssd has 2 partitions: 1 partition that has the release version of Windows 10 (stable version) and the other partition has the Insider Builds. So far, when WU downloaded the latest fast ring builds of Windows, the laptop was upgrading to the latest builds without any issues.this is the first time when i witnessed a consistent "fail" in upgrading to the latest build.

Where did they move the control of Desktop icons to? User files, This PC, Network, Control Panel? Used to be under Themes but I can't find it now in 15014.

Trying to make 15014 work since rollback did not work for me. I was able to do a Reset but I think I'll try a clean install next.
As pointed out to me in the previous build, desktop icons are now located in the control panel personalization link. It is not in themes anymore.

OK. I got the build installed on my physical machine. *The first glitch I noticed was that on the*opening browser page I could not login to my Microsoft Account. It said I could login in later through settings which I did. The installation (from Build 15002) went extremely smoothly and the OS is a champ right now. Best of breed apps for me are Mail and Weather. The Facebook*and Twitter apps are quite good as well as well as a few others. Pleased.

Now I'm pretty sure that*the machine may freeze before I post this so I'll say that I've narrowed down the problem to all that it needs is to reseat the Network Card. Anyway I hope so. My wife will do that. We have a division of labor - she does the hardware and I do the software. Pretty good deal for me! :)

O yeah. Forgot to mention that the timesync problem cropped up again with 15014. No reason to return to 15007 for sure.

At what point during your installation did you try it. I ususally try to sync as one of the first things I do. The glitch may be related to the "connect to a service" error when you first try to setup a Google account. Pure speculation.

However setting the time is the very first thing you before installing Windows Server's

For servers, indeed time is the first thing you setup or you will get into a lot of trouble. One server has a fixed "correct" time without any time sync from the internet and acts as a time server for the local network, the rest just follows that time. It does not even matter that the time is right, as long as everything has the same time stamp at the same moment of time (with a tiny error tolerance).

I haven't had any problems with time nor time sync on the preview/insider builds, ever.

But other people have had time sync problems. Par for the course it seems. No wonder M$ is using millions of computers to beta test
