Microsoft's Torrent like delivery of update downloads
When I downloaded 15014 I watched my download and upload speeds. I have the option turned on to allow updates to be sent to local network and Internet PCs. The download speed was not steady while the upload speed was maxed out. I wonder how much of my download was coming from other PCs on the Internet and if that was causing the speed to fluctuate so much. I have run tests on my Internet connection many times and it has been very steady. I also wonder if the slowness at the start of the download is caused by the Torrent like way Microsoft is sending out updates. Is the slow start caused by Microsoft searching for available PCs on the Internet before starting the download? I have used Torrent a few times and noticed it takes a while for it to get going. Even if I turn the option off that allows the uploading of updates will I still be getting updates from Internet PCs? I am curious about this and would like for Microsoft to explain exactly how this new way of delivering updates is working.

On my laptop, it took almost 90 minutes to download*and prepare build*15014 for install. Sheesh! UUP not helping much at the moment!

I've had the 15014 fail to install twice now. Downloads just fine, installs just fine but once the PC reboots the Keyboard isn't working, mouse is messed up and the screen is all garbled and freezing. Rebooting the PC causes the machine to roll back to 15007.

Activation and Licensing Screens
To follow up on the topic of activation and licensing I'm attaching a screen from an Activated VM which happens to be on a re-installed openSUSE partition on my main PC which was having strange problems. Unfortunately its been awhile since I created this VM so I've forgotten how I activated it (but you can be sure it was a b..tch).
This particular VM is called DESKTOP-Vmware and it did NOT show up on the list of possible candidates to "re-activate". Then again I still don't know where that list is. Perhaps MS has it on secure servers never to be made available to the public!:)
Also I mention that I'm logged in here using Opera for Linux. Why not Firefox? Because when I use FF (again under Linux) to access tenforums I get this.

That was not so much an issue for me, I was just wondering if it was only possible to install with a Microsoft account because selecting Skip this step in account creation page to make a local account did not work. In PRO that was not an issue, you could select My school or work owns this PC then select Local domain, which would allow to create a local account. Was wondering if for Home edition users only chance to get installed with a local account was to install without network connection.
That seems to be fixed now, this from list of fixes in 15014:
We fixed an issue in our new Out-Of-Box-Experience (OOBE) where clicking “Skip this step” on the Microsoft Account creation page would unexpectedly loop back to “Who owns this PC?”.

Windows.old not removed (redux)
Just noticee on the Windows VM I working with now that running Disk Cleanup did not remove windows.old. I thought that problem was fixed. The great Unlocker 1.92 worked but will complete only on the next reboot of the VM - which means I guess that some of the files there were in use (maybe why Disk Cleanup failed Microcoders?).
Anyway keeping old versions of Insider builds is silly now that ESD files are not being provided. Doubly useless on a VM since snapshots are so easily made.

Marty, you have to check "Control Panel\System and Security\System" (Right Click "This PC" in Explorer and select properties) in order to see your activation status. My winver says the exact same thing as yours but with a different expiration date. All insider builds should expire within a few months. Or did I misunderstand something here?
Another thing, yes ESDs are still coming, they just changed folder and are located in a subfolder of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download or C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download depending if you try to find them before or after the upgrade. There are also a bunch of .cab files which are important too.
