A bit strange bug (or wrong setting by me?): Speech Runtime Executable task / process starts by itself every now and then, taking quite a lot CPU resources (CPU % jumps to 30 to 35%, returns to 3 to 8 % when this task ended from Task manager).

I use Cortana a lot, with speech, might be my own fault. Anyway, interesting behaviour.
This is driving me nuts, can't find out how to disable this, it's using a huge amount of CPU all the time:

I am a friend of Cortana and like how it responds to my "Hi Cortana", but if this is the price I don't want it, I can live without Cortana's voice features. However, disabling "Hi Cortana" does not help, this process will always be there (on my machine, anyway).

On this laptop not even ending the task helps. In seconds it just restarts, constantly using 30% (plus minus 5%) of CPU.

I'm sure you've tried everything, including a bigger hammer....but what happens if you turn this off? Maybe with a restart? Guessing.....

Typical me, I had forgotten something so obvious. Thanks for the tip. I need Skype to be able to use microphone, trying now if it works turning all other apps OFF, only enabling Skype.

Seems I'm not alone with this issue: Speech runtime Executable hung - Microsoft Community

I downloaded version 2.5.8.0 from site today, and it runs perfectly.
I just did a uninstall and reinstall of ImgBurn and it's working again. Before the reinstall, ImgBurn would crash every time I tried to open a folder.

At what point during your installation did you try it. I ususally try to sync as one of the first things I do. The glitch may be related to the "connect to a service" error when you first try to setup a Google account. Pure speculation.

I always set mine after update to time.nist.gov because I don't care to use Windows as it has given me issues in the past.

For servers, indeed time is the first thing you setup or you will get into a lot of trouble. One server has a fixed "correct" time without any time sync from the internet and acts as a time server for the local network, the rest just follows that time. It does not even matter that the time is right, as long as everything has the same time stamp at the same moment of time (with a tiny error tolerance).

I haven't had any problems with time nor time sync on the preview/insider builds, ever.
A lot of us has issues a few builds back where we could not set the time server, it would error out. Some of us also could not get the sycn to work either, but that resolved it self for most of us around 14986, IIRC.

But other people have had time sync problems. Par for the course it seems. No wonder M$ is using millions of computers to beta test
Lol - well, we are on Preview builds, so I wouldn't expect everything to work 100% corectly anyway...

Kari, I do not use Cortana at all, and am not seeing this issue. I can try to set up another VM and enable Cortana and voice and see if the issue replicates on my end, which I suspect it will...

Those who have had time syncing issues, have you also had issues with loading Google webpages? I am just asking, because I wonder if there is a relation between the two. I have had neither problems, ever.

Actually, I most certainly did, but I cannot vouch that both were occurring simultaneously or not.

Can't see a relation, specially as time is synced automatically but wont do it manually. I can open Google from anywhere but time wouldn't sync manually.
