Can you explain this? If it's downloading, albeit very slowly, will restarting it make it download faster?
I think what it did was move me to a different server.

    And now I'm back to square one . . . 0%.

I think I'll leave this alone for tonight and go pile up in the bed and read!

Did both, Winuser and I'm now at 1%, so I think I'm going to leave the computer all by itself for tonight.

Hmph! If that's what it did for you, then it tied me to the slowest server Microsoft owns. :)

Hmmm...I was stalled at about 50% for quite some time. When I restarted the wuauserv service, it immediately went back up to 50-some percent, and then flew the rest in, in record time. Sorry about that........

I just did a speed test and I'm at 2.39 Mbps! Dangit, it hasn't been that long since I had the cable tech out here to fix things!

He told me to undo the cable to the modem and touch the end of the wire at the center when things slowed down, so I just did. Checked Internet speed again and lo and behold, it worked! I'm still not up to speed, but at least now I have 11.61 Mbps!

OMGoodness, it jumped from 8% to 15% while I was typing!

I'm still going to bed and let Build 10159 hopefully update.

are you trying to bedazzle us with that technical talk? lol.

wynona, you need to go to task manager, go to services, and restart the service while the update is going. restarting the service it should stop it and then it should start again by itself. if nothing happens the first time, do it again. but don't stop the dl. do it while it is going on. this should get you through, and pretty quickly. if it doesn't, there is definitely something else going on. good luck.

Yes, I have that part down pat! :) However, did you read the message I posted two minutes before you did? Most likely it wasn't there while you were typing, and you didn't see it when you posted.

Anyway, I'm up to 44% downloaded now; took the cable out of the modem, spit on it and put it back . . . OK, OK, I didn't spit on it! Anyway, my download speed has gone from 2.39 Mbps to 11.61 Mbps, although that's not quite where it should be.

And, before you ask, no, the cable was not loose. I always use a pair of very small pliers to tighten down any cabling. Have to use them to undo it as well.

See, this is your mistake. Spit on it to make it go up to full speed !
