yes, take an image with macrium, and do a clean install, then restore the apps you need.

I've had no issues to get fast ring upgrade builds on two test machines which have never had any other than local accounts.
Hi, I just upgraded from 10130 and I had my machine at local account and just entered my hotmail address and was on the insider build. After the upgrade to 10158 today I was on my local account but Windows asked me to fix issues with the insider program so I just entered my email and password and thought OK, everything should be OK.

After I did this, it changed my name and display pic to my hotmail account, I wasn't local anymore. So I switched back to local account it signed me out and back in and now it says again I have to FIX ISSUES with the insider program. How did you get it to stay on the insider program whilst on a local account??

Previous version was ok, now I cannot for some reason when I go to my local account. :S

Making the ISO now Pro32bitENG-US can't wait.
Will do an upgrade first to see how it fixes any of my current problems (like store, letters in start menu, etc.) Later I will clean install. YAY!

I don't think you can. You have to sign in to your MSA to stay in the Insider Program.

Windows Photo Viewer works again but, it seems you have to set it as default in Settings/System/Default Apps not in Control Panel.

After doing a clean install and being asked for a Key at the beginning & completion of setup then skipping entering a Key Windows was activated as Kellymac35 noted. I should also mention that I used a Local Account during setup and left the previous partitions intact when doing a custom install.

Now I will sign in with my Microsoft Account so I can continue receiving Insider Builds.
Mine wasn't activated on clean install after skipping it during setup. The Pro key from the 10154 release notes worked to activate though.

That's how you have to make all apps default from now on. Microsoft removed the ability of apps to set themselves as default, or other apps. You have to do this manually in the settings app.
