My Windows Update does work, and I can change retrieval options, but the new build still isn't showing up for me. Guess I'll have to wait for an ISO or go back to an old build.

I'm getting it here in NH USA - it's 50% in.

I doubt there's an ISO yet - I think this one is Fast Ring. But they fiddle the 'rules' sometimes, so who knows.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to see if they've addressed my issues at all, and to see what attention they've given to fit'n'finish...

Does this have the new hero wallpaper?

Are you using a Microsoft Account? If not, try that...

UK version of the build has appeared so now I'm downloading.

You are not the only one. I'm loving that no longer have to hack Windows 8 to make metro die. I'll be glad everyone is getting it for free too.

Microsoft listening to everyone is awesome as well

If you have an earlier version to upgrade , you should be able to make your own ISO using this Tutorial:
