I'd say Chrome did more damage to Firefox's market share than IE's. I don't recall Firefox never making big gains on Internet Explorer, It was huge in the mid 2000s.

I only use Chrome for flash content I can't see on Firefox (Firefox is converting some flash elements into HTML5 automatically). Firefox is really lightweight and fast compared to Chrome, at least for me.

mmmmm.....i wonder how many ancient folk like me are still stuck on IE? I use Waterfox as my backup browser but i just don't like Chrome.
Not surprising at all when you consider that Chrome is 'bundled' with just about everything you download these days (e.g. CCleaner). Combine that with the fact that most people don't bother to carefully read install screens for things they download - they just 'click through' without reading - then it isn't surprising that Chrome is so 'popular'.Chrome is the most popular web browser of all
Even my ASUS motherboard driver disc has Google Chrome and Google Toolbar included as 'optional extras' that are ticked by default and you have to make sure they're unticked during installation.
I've had quite a few people come to me and ask "What's this Google Chrome and how did I get it on my computer?". I've even had one or two not even realize they had it installed (despite having the Chrome icon sitting there in the taskbar as plain as the nose on their face).
I haven't used anything except Firefox for the past 10 years.
I reckon if it's bundled it still counts as a download even if you can decline installing it, to be honest it's becoming a pest, the number of things that it's bundled with. IMO good software does not need forced downloads.
I'll stick to Firefox which I've used on Windows and Linux for a very long time.
