And you trust that this someone wasn't re-interpreting what they were told? That's the problem here.. Even Ed Bott got it wrong, and he's in very tight with Microsoft. He was just interpreting what was said, which again was ignoring the context.

    Amazing

I have been using Windows 10 as my main OS since around the first week of the preview. I have had a very small amount of issues with it and love it quite a bit. Watching it evolve has been pretty fantastic. Personally i plan to stay signed up as an insider and continue to test Windows 10. I don't miss windows 7, And for sure not windows 8/8.1. It has even fixed my boot time issue i was having with 7/8. Just wanted to through my thoughts on it in the mix just cause.

Oh, come on. Really? They also didn't say what happens if you uninstall during a full moon. How many different ways can you analyze this?

It seems clear to me. *ANY TIME* after July 29th, if you opt out of Insider builds, you will need a valid license. Either because you upgraded during the first year, or because you bought it. If you don't have a valid license, you need to acquire one or go back to your old OS. It's really that simple.

great so it's "stay with us or lolformat to Windows 7, Windows Update for half a day, get upgrade, upgrade, format again for a clean Win10 install.

on a related note, not sure if I have missed this in all the topics about upgrades etc

if you are running the final 10, how easy is it to join back to the insider program, is it a clean install or can you just opt in and then get all updates early

Well,,, I didn't think that MS would let us go from the preview to the final. IMO,, and it's just what I would do is to dual boot your primary OS with the preview. That way you can use your primary to move to Win10 final without having to reinstall everything.

Well,, I'll just simply use my Win8.1 license and go get a copy of Win10 opting out of the insider program. It's been fun but I just want to live with Win10 and no longer play with previews.
