You upgraded via Windows update? Or via ISO? Did you run the setup within windows, or from booting the ISO?

That's why I pretty much always quote. In Eight Forums, we were able to quote the whole thing, which could get rather lengthy, but at least we had the context. Now it's not so easily understood.

Iso,

I used Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool-Installer-en-US to create the flash drive install. Again I am not sure if it was 10130 or the previous build that did this. If 10130 is doing this. All of Dell computers that have this type of key may be upgrade knowingly and unknowingly to windows 10 pro rtm. I made no modification to the flash drive.

If enough negative feedback gets received on something they may can it before its officially released. Or positive feedback may fast track a feature to the rest of us.

Alpha, in Office 365, each of the programs has a cute little Smiley Icon at the top; there's one at the top of IE and probably one at the top of Microsoft Edge. Maybe even Cortana. There's one at the top of Xbox, and most likely the Office for Windows 10 apps will have it as well. Those smiley icons are for feedback. Click/tap on one and you get "Send a Smile", "Send a Frown". Click/tap on one or the other and a feedback page opens. As we all know, no matter how hard Microsoft tries, bugs get through to RTMs; thus, the Smiley Feedback Icons are there so that we can let Microsoft know how we feel about this or that, or what's wrong with this or that.

You are right though, that once Windows 10 RTMs, those folks who have left the Windows Insider Program will no longer have access to the same feedback that we'll have.

I got to thinking about this, I think the insider program should change a lot. I really think this is the wrong way to do it after the release of windows 10. I don't think they would have enough testers though if Microsoft went with my idea, shown below. Just because a tech doesn't like the feature, doesn't mean a consumer won't.

The Insider Program is changing. A lot! Note the last two sentences I've bolded and turned purple.

You’ll need to connect the MSA that you registered for the Windows Insider Program with (and accepted the “Microsoft Windows Insider Program Agreement”) in order to continue receiving new Windows 10 Insider Preview builds (both Fast and Slow rings) from Windows Update. If you already have your MSA connected to your account on your PC, then you’re all set. We’re introducing new infrastructure in Windows Update to help us deliver new builds more effectively to Windows Insiders, and ensure that we’re flighting builds to people who have registered and opted in to the program. Connecting your MSA also allows seamless access to Windows Insider-only functionality in the Windows Feedback app and Insider Hub too.

Since businesses aren't included in the free Windows 10 upgrade offer, I'm not sure they even belong in this part of the Windows 10 Technical Preview. They are already in separate programs, such as TAP and Corporate, etc. There are more that I'm not aware of.

Starting speculation mode now . . .

A large percentage of Windows Insiders who joined (for whatever reason) will get their free upgrade to Windows 10 and leave the program. A much smaller percentage of Windows Insiders will choose to remain in the program.

A large number of those who remain in the Windows Insider Program will be more technically inclined than those who left the program. They're more experienced with beta testing. A lesser number of those who remain within the program will be less technically inclined, but have found out that beta testing is fun. Or they just want to learn more. Or any of a hundred other reasons to stay.

No matter why they stay, Microsoft will be more comfortable with delivering new builds to everyone at the same time; thus, the Fast and Slow Rings will no longer be needed.

As shown above, Microsoft already have their next steps in place and all we have to do is follow their lead.

Just did a test. Dell home system using 10130 iso upgraded to Windows 10 pro insider pro preview. Some stuff was blanked out.






As for the other post, I meant small businesses not big businesses.

• Do you want to continue as a Windows Insider and keep getting preview builds after 7/29?
• Or do you want to upgrade your Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 system that has been getting Windows 10 Insider Preview builds to the 7/29 release and stop being an Insider?

Now it could not be more explicit than this.

For me, this is a clear, July 29 Windows 10. Here i come. Using my Windows 7 retail lisence.
