    OK, here's my case:

My main daily driver is Windows 7. I have 'reserved' a copy of Windows 10, but I have no intention of upgrading my Windows 7 installation. Will I be able to clean install my copy of Windows 10 on another partition on the same HD in the same machine, and dual-boot 7 and 10?
Short answer is no. You have to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 in order to get the free copy.

I might add that since you've reserved your copy of Win 10 on Win 7, you might want to "take it back", although I've read that the upgrade won't take place without your permission. Question I'd ask is, "Did I give my permission to upgrade when I reserved my copy?" Yep, I reserved mine too.

I am currently dual-booting 7 and 10 preview. Let's say I stay in the Insiders program after RTM, for at least a little while. Let's say I quit Insiders by and by - will I be able to install my Windows 10 that I got through reserving it on my Windows 7 system on the partition currently containing the Preview?
I think this is the very reason Microsoft posted their blog and revised it twice.

1.You get to keep Windows 10 if you continue with the Insiders Program. Once you drop out of that program, Windows 10 is no longer valid, despite what was published in the multiply revised blog.

    2. At this point, the only way to get Windows 10 free is to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I know all that, it has nothing to do with the question I asked though.
I don't follow that answer sorry

You will have to upgrade your Windows 7, and once upgraded, you can go back to Windows 7, then reinstall Windows 10 whenever you want. But, the upgrade to 10 must be done within the first year after release or you won't get the free upgrade.

The situation is on one machine you can either use you windows 7 or 8 key to get the windows 10, or keep with wins 10 preview as long as you want within July 29 2016 timeframe. Now, the trap is say if you have bought window 7 or 8 on your own meaning you bought the software outright, that did not come with any machine, prior to july 29 2016, you have to get windows 10 with the software you bought otherwise after that date you want to get windows 10, you have to buy it. At the end of the day, MS always win, that is how they stay in business.

I can't make heads or tails over what you're claiming here.

There is no "trap". What are you talking about? You can upgrade a retail Windows 7 or 8.x within one year of RTM. That's all there is to it, if you wait longer then that, yeah, you have to buy it.. but that's not a "trap".

I tell you, this entitlement mindset of people is stupid. So many people feel they are entitled to infinite free upgrades for all eternity, just because Microsoft makes an offer to allow you to upgrade for free for a year. This is the quintessential "Give them an inch, they want a mile" mentality.

Microsoft doesn't HAVE to offer a free upgrade to anyone. You have to qualify for it, and part of the qualification is that you do so within 1 year of release. How is this a "trap"?

How do computer world know how many Insiders will carry on testing? Have they confirmed with Microsoft that too many Insiders have quit following the news they won't get a free OS to cause problems?
    This was your answer.

But they will as long as they keep in the program. Anyone that update to Win 10 will get it for free.
I don't see how that answers it.

Here I will try to make it simple

Windows 7 or 8.1 upgrade to windows 10130 build or later preview build can be update to the rtm and you can leave the program and this version will remain activate. How Microsoft knows that is beyond me.

Clean install of Windows 10 will be upgrade like an other build and will be activated and remain activated if you stay in the insider program, if you leave the insiders program you will have to restore windows 7 or 8.1 then upgrade to windows 10 rtm like everyone else or buy a disk.

If I were upgrading 10 which I am not, I would have an odd ball problem. I have a pre-activated system. Dell use that same key on different machines. I don't know how Microsoft going to handle those type of systems. Some will stay with 7, some will upgrade to 10 and some will go back to 7

Well,, I'll just simply use my Win8.1 license and go get a copy of Win10 opting out of the insider program. It's been fun but I just want to live with Win10 and no longer play with previews.

Technically, you can but legally most likely not.
    Now I'm confused again.
